Long Road out of Eden

Tabbed by Fredrik Smith Sandstrøm

Introduction to tab:
I have tabbed out the intro, and the solo, as well as working out
the chords. I'm not quite sure about the chords at the bridge part,
try to work it out more correctly yourself, and inform me of the
correct chords =)
I think there is a second guitar coming in at the end of the solo,
but I haven’t tabbed that. Also, you can repeat the intro over the
verse throughout the song; its something similar they are playing.

I’ve now added several of the licks, all the overdriven at the 3rd
verse and the following chorus. They are the ones that sounds the
coolest anyway. The rest will follow when I’m in the mood. If you
want to speed up the process, sending me beer, chocolate or money
will often get me in that mood!
But please; do not hesitate to contribute corrections or additional
parts that you have tabbed out yourself!

And please... Don’t post this tab elsewhere and take credit for it
yourself. It just makes me sad =(

And then the mighty solo. It sounds alot more difficult than it
actually is. If you've played Hotel California, you might notice
that they've used some parts from the HC solo in this song aswell.

And then, some of the licks I've tabbed out yet. Especially the

And then the lyrics with chords. Once again, when it comes to
the end of the bridge, I have no idea what they're playing.
Just strum along with an F, or try to work it out yourself,
and get the honour as co-writer of this tab ;-)

Lyrics

Am D
moon shining down through the palms

Am D
shadows moving on the sand

Am D
somebody whispering the twenty-third psalm

Am D
dusty rifle in his trembling hands

Am D
somebody trying just to stay alive

Am D
he got promises to keep

Am D
over the ocean in america

Am D
far away and fast asleep

F G C G Am
silent stars blinking in the blackness of an endless sky

F G C G Am
cold silver satellites, ghostly caravans passing by

F G F G
galaxies unfolding, new worlds being born

F G F G
pilgrims and prodigals creeping toward the dawn

	     C E Am
but it's a long road out of eden

music blasting from an suv
on a bright and sunny day
rolling down the interstate
in the good ol' usa

having lunch at the petroleum club
smokin' fine cigars and swappin' lives
he said: "gimme 'nother slice o' that barbecued brisket!"
"gimme ‘nother piece o' that pecan pie!"

freeways flickering, cell phones chiming a tune
we're riding to utopia, road map says we'll be arriving soon
captains of the old order clinging to the reins
assuring us these aches inside are only growing pains
but it's a long road out of eden

BRIDGE

     F G
back home i was so certain

    F G
the path was very clear

    F G Am
but now i have to wonder: “what are we doing here?”

	 F G
I'm not counting on tomorrow

	F G
and i can't tell wrong from right

    F
but i'd give anything to be there in your arms tonight

SOLO

weaving down the american highway
through the litter and the wreckage and the cultural junk
bloated with entitlement, loaded on propaganda
and now we're driving dazed and drunk

been down the road to damascus,
the road to mandalay
met the ghost of caesar on the appian way
he said, "it's hard to stop this bingeing, once you get a taste."
"but the road to empire is a bloody stupid waste."

behold the bitten apple - the power of the tools
but all the knowledge in the world is of no use to fools
and it's a long road out of eden....
