Here's another tab for Hale's song "Broken Sonnet". This song is cool and I like it
because of the melody and the feel. I've heard enough of "The Day You Said Goodnight" to last
me a lifetime (in my place, it's played everywhere I go, in jeepneys, in the local plaza. It's
driving me nuts!!) so here, I made a tab to one of their old hits. This tab is almost 100% co-
rrect, but overall, it attempts to correct some, should we say, "inconsistencies" in the other
tabs. I have reviewed other tabs and I have come to make a tab that sort of focuses more on co-
rrecting the anomalies and the such. Note "almost 100%", so it is an indication that this tab
was done over a span of limited time. I'm not trying to say that the other tabs are totally
wrong, but I just feel that not much time has been put into tabbing the song. This tab is pur-
ely ear transcribed and so some of the parts aforementioned might sound different for others.
Just enjoy the tab as much as possible, and e-mail all praise mail, rant mail, and death thre-
ats to the addresses above. Or better yet, add me in Friendster by using the Hotmail address
or in Zorpia by using the Yahoo address. I dedicate this effort to everyone around me, however
focusing more on the students and staff of SPC Ormoc City, to my cousin, Jomel Carlo, of Year
III St. Ignatius, all of his friends, to his girlfriend, Leny B., to his girlfriend's friends,
Cindy, Zandra, and a lot more. Especially to the "unsmiling girl" of Year III St. Ignatius, a-
nd to another friend of my cousin's GF, Kristina E., who I very much admire. KEEP ROCKIN and
support OPM.

DISCLAIMER - If you plan to post this up by copying it into your hard drive and posting it up
on other public sources, mail me. I'll give it as long as I recieve the full cred-
it. This document must not be changed in any way. Full credit to Mark Ryan only
because this document is my work, and is owned by me. It is intended for you to
             learn.

NOTE - This song uses two guitars, one guitar being Champ's, and the other being Roll's. Roll's
distortion is sort of "filly" so you better try to set you're amplifier with the Main to
almost maximum. Guitar 1 is whoever you're lead guitarist is, and Guitar 2 is the rhythm.
If Guitar 2 is the band's lead vocalist as well, then its better. I think it's better if
Guitar 2 should probably be an acoustic with a pick up. Distortion is ok with Guitar 2
(if it's an acoustic) but if its an electric, then just lower the volume or the Main knob
on the amplifier. There's some dubbing in the song, so I'lll just tell you where it is
       amd what to do.

LEGEND
Here's the legend for various symbols I will be using in the tab:
/ - Slide Note (/ = slide up)
`` - Let Note(s) Ring
h - Hammer On
p - Pull Off
(0) - Optional Note
X - Harmonic

Tuning - Standard (EADGBe)

INTRO (0:00 - 0:11)
Only Guitar 1 plays in this part of the intro. The notes are very simple and I am sure that thi-
s part is 100% correct. I have observed other tabs regriding the intro and I feel that this one
is absolutely correct. Here's the tab:

VERSE 1 (0:11 - 0:52)
Here both guitars kick in. Guitar 1 plays the intro throughout the verse, while Guitar 2 strums
chords. I'll give the tabs in a while. A little note is that both guitars are clean here, so
there's no distortion. I won't be giving the tab for Guitar 1 again, so you can figure out for
yourself when to start and when to end. Here's the tab for the chords Guitar 2 has to play:

               Em9 G Dsus C9
           e|---3-------3-------3-------3---|
           B|---3-------3-------3-------3---|
           G|---0-------0-------2-------0---|
           D|---2-------0-------0-------2---|
           A|---2-------2-------0-------3---|
           E|---0-------3------(0)------0---|

I'll just throw in the lyrics and denote when Guitar 2 should play the chords.

       Em9 G
          Now I concede,
                 Dsus C9
On the night of this fifteenth song,
                 Em9 G
          Of melancholy,
                Dsus C9
          Of melancholy.

       Em9 G
          And now I will,
          Dsus C9
Admit it in this fourth line
                Em9 G
          That I love you,
                Dsus C9
          That I love you.

NOTES TO GUITARIST 1 - All you have to play in the verse is, as I said before, whatever that is
played in the INTRO, namely the picking part. Just listen to the song for
the progression, so that you know when to start and when to end. I'll give
a small tab to show Guitar 2 where the chords are played if coupled with
                       Guitar 1's picking:

Guitar 1 ___________

REFRAIN 1 (0:52 - 1:33)
Here's the first refrain. Forgive me if I'm wrong but, I think that the time span is incorrect
as I am not sure whether the part after "I don't care...what they do" can be considered as part
of the refrain or is part of the chorus. Just look at it my way for now. In this part, Guitar 1
plays a few notes while Guitar 2 continues with the strumming. It's just the same chords as be-
fore, but I'll give it all the same to prevent you from scrolling up and down:

               Em9 Dsus C9 Asus7
           e|---3-------3-------3-------3---|
           B|---3-------3-------3-------3---|

           A|---2-------0-------3-------0---|
           E|---0------(0)------0-------0---|

I'll just throw in the lyrics and denote when Guitar 2 should play the chords.

SECTION WITHIN THE LINES (0:52 - 1:11)
In the section within the two lines, Guitar 1 picks out some notes. I've looked at a few other
tabs and they claim that there is some kind of picking pattern here. Believe me, Roll does not
pick a lot of notes here. I'll just give you the tab so that you will understand better:

The tab below will consist of the notes played by Roll, the chords Champ plays and whatever
he sings in this part. Just so you know.

NOTE - The chords on top of the bar are the chords played by Champ, so it is not a trans-
cription of the notes.

   Asus7 Dsus C9 Dsus
e|------------------------------------------------------------------| NOTES TO GUITAR 1
B|------------------------------------------------------------------| Here are the notes
G|--------0------0-------0------0-------0------0------0------0------| that Roll plays, just
D|------4------4-------4------4-------4------4------4------4--------| listen to the song
A|------------------------------------------------------------------| for the pattern.
E|------------------------------------------------------------------|
I don't care what they say

     Em9 Dsus C9

A|-------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|-------------------------------------------------------------------|
I don't care what they do

So basically this is what goes on in this part of the refrain. Just listen to the song accor-
dingly for the progression and the timing. I am just doing my part in telling you where to put
your fingers.

SECTION WITHIN THE STARS (1:11 - 1:33)
In the section within the stars, Roll plays power chords. Champ however, on the other hand,
plays the same chords as above. Therefore listen to the song for the progression and the
timing. Here's the tab so that I can show you what Roll plays (WARNING - I AM NOT GIVING
THE PROGRESSION, IT IS FOR YOU TO FIND OUT FOR YOURSLF BY LISTENING TO THE SONG):

INTERLUDE (1:33 - 1:43)
The exact same thing in the Intro has to be played here. Just so you don't keep on scrolling,
I'll just give the tab again. The tab is shown below:

VERSE 2 (1:43 - 2:23)
Welcome to the second verse of the song. It's exactly the same thing as what's played in the
first verse, except that there are different lyrics. So, we'll go through the run-through.
Here are the chords for Guitar 2:

               Em9 G Dsus C9 D
           e|---3-------3-------3-------3-------2---|

I'll just throw in the lyrics and denote when Guitar 2 should play the chords.

               Dsus C9
I'll say it all over again,

                       Guitar 1's picking:

REFRAIN 2 (2:23 - 3:01)
Exactly the same as the first refrain, except that Roll's part has now changed a bit. I'll give
the tab so that you can understand better. Just like before, I'll give the chords that Guitar 2
has to play and stuff like that:

               Em9 Dsus C9 Asus7

SECTION WITHIN THE LINES (2:23 - 2:42)
In the section between the two lies, Roll uses a few harmonics and some notes are picked out.
I looked it up on other tabs and I found that they think that the harmonics are plain notes,
but I am afraid to say that harmonics are not the same as notes and certain parts in this s-
ection do not sound like notes. I'll just give the tab so that you can understand better:

The tab below will consist of the notes played by Roll, the chords Champ plays and whatever
he sings in this part. Just so you know.

NOTE - The chords on top of the bar are the chords played by Champ, so it is not a trans-
cription of the notes.

dingly for the progression and the timing. I am just doing my part in telling you where to put

SECTION WITHIN THE STARS (2:41 - 3:01)
Same as before, Roll plays the power chords here, while Champ goes on to play the chords as
shown in the tab. Therefore listen to the song for the progression and the timing. Here's the
tab so that I can show you what Roll plays (WARNING - I AM NOT GIVING THE PROGRESSION, IT IS

Here's the part that I feel can be considered the main chorus of the song. The chords are
different this time around (just a different sequence), and so I'll just do as I do before.
I'll give you all the chords that you need, then give the lyrics with the chords, and then
tab out Roll's part. Here's the tab:

               Em9 G Dsus C9
           e|---3-------3-------3-------3---|
           B|---3-------3-------3-------3---|
           G|---0-------0-------2-------0---|
           D|---2-------0-------0-------2---|
           A|---2-------2-------0-------3---|
           E|---0-------3------(0)------0---|

I'll just throw in the lyrics and denote when Guitar 2 should play the chords.

         Dsus G
          Lie down,

                   Dsus
          Right next to me,
              Em9
          Lie down,
                        C9
          Right next to me.

         Dsus Em9
          And I'll,
                    Dsus
          Never let go,
                    C9 Dsus
          Never let go.....

Here are the basic chords that Champ plays. Next, I'll be tabbing out what Roll plays for th-
is part. Its most likely that he plays power chords for this part, and therefore it will be
rally easy. The tab for Roll's part is shown below:

The tab below will consist of the power chords played by Roll, the chords Champ plays and
whatever he sings in this part. Just so you know.

NOTE - The chords on top of the bar are the chords played by Champ, so it is not a trans-
cription of the notes.

     Dsus Dsus Em9 C9
e|-----------------------------------------|---
B|-----------------------------------------|---
G|---5/7--------------7--------9-------5---|---
D|---5/7----5---------7--------9-------5---|---
A|---3/5----5---------5--------7-------3---|---
E|----------3------------------------------|---
Lie down ..me Lie down ..me

     Dsus Em9 Dsus C9 Dsus
e|-----------------------------------------------|
B|-----------------------------------------------|
G|---7/7---------------7----------5--------5/7---|
D|---5/7---------------7----------5--------5/7---|
A|---3/5----2----------5----------3--------3/5---|
E|----------0------------------------------------|
     And I'll ..go ..go....

SOLO PART 1 (3:22 - 3:42)
Here comes the first solo for Roll. This solo is really easy if you already know how to play.
I have tried to make it as simple as possible for beginners to learn this solo. There's some
dubbing in this part. Observe the song and you will actually hear 3 guitars in this part. Two
of them are Roll (where he plays the solo and where he plays the riff) while Champ plays his
chords. To remedy this, put on distortion for Guitar 2 and have him play the chords but in
distortion while Guitar 1 goes on to play this solo. But to play it safe, I'll tab everything
that there is to hear in this part:

NOTE - Since there appears to be three guitars here, I'll just add a Guitar 3 as a guideline
and so that you don't end up utterly confused. The chords on top of the bar are the
chords played by Champ, so it is not a transcription of the notes. And the ones above
Champ's chords are the power chords for the seemingly "Guitar 3".

Guitar 1, Guitar 2 and Guitar 3
   E5 D5 C5
   Em9 Dsus C9
e|---------------------------|
B|---------------------------|
G|----/12--------/12---------|
D|--------12---------10``----|
A|---------------------------|
E|---------------------------|

                                C5/D5 E5
                                Dsus Em9
e|----------------------------------10-10-10-10/12-12``----|
B|----------------------------12-13------------------------|
G|-------------------11-12-14------------------------------|
D|----10-10-10-12-14---------------------------------------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------|

                  D5 C5 D5 E5
                 Dsus C9 Dsus Em9
e|---12-12/15-15---------------15``--15-15-15-15/17-1715-15``-|
B|---------------15``-15-13-12---------------------------------|
G|-------------------------------------------------------------|
D|-------------------------------------------------------------|
A|-------------------------------------------------------------|
E|-------------------------------------------------------------|

So that's it for SOLO PART 1. NOTE TO GUITAR 2 - You can choose either to play the power chords
or you can just stick to the normal chords but with slightly heavy distortion.

CHORUS 2 (3:43 - 4:20(19))
Here's the second chorus. Actually I had a tough time naming this section because it consisted
of what I thought to be the second half of the refrain and the chorus. So that you don't have
any trouble scrolling up and down again, I will give the tab again. There is a minor change in
the progression and I'll tell you where that is. The tab is shown below:

               Em9 Dsus C9
           e|---3-------3-------3-------3---|
           B|---3-------3-------3-------3---|
           G|---0-------2-------0-------0---|
           D|---2-------0-------2-------0---|
           A|---2-------0-------3-------2---|
           E|---0------(0)------0-------3---|

I'll just throw in the lyrics and denote when Guitar 2 should play the chords.

SECTION WITHIN THE STARS (3:43 - 4:01)
Same as before, Roll plays the power chords here, while Champ goes on to play the chords as
shown in the tab. Therefore listen to the song for the progression and the timing. Here's the
tab so that I can show you what Roll plays (WARNING - I AM NOT GIVING THE PROGRESSION, IT IS
FOR YOU TO FIND OUT FOR YOURSLF BY LISTENING TO THE SONG):

The tab below will consist of the power chords played by Roll, the chords Champ plays and
whatever he sings in this part. Just so you know.

NOTE - The chords on top of the bar are the chords played by Champ, so it is not a trans-
cription of the notes.

SECTION WITHIN THE LINES (4:01 - 4:20(19))
Here, I will be tabbing out what Roll plays. It's mainly power chords and its really
easy. There are a few minor differences though, so I'll just tab them out all the same:
NOTE - The chords on top of the bar are the chords played by Champ, so it is not a trans-
cription of the notes.

     Dsus Dsus Em9 C9
e|------------------------------------------|---
B|------p-----------------------------------|---
G|---7--a-------------7-------*9-------5*---|---
D|---7--u---5---------7-------*9-------5*---|---
A|---5--s---5---------5-------*7-------3*---|---
E|------e---3-------------------------------|---

     Dsus Em9 Dsus C9 Dsus
e|-----------------------------------------------|
B|-----------------------------------------------|
G|---7/7---------------7----------5--------5/7---|
D|---5/7---------------7----------5--------5/7---|
A|---3/5----2----------5----------3--------3/5---|
E|----------0------------------------------------|
     And I'll ..go ..go....

Looking at the first bar, I have found that Roll plays a few octaves between the E5 and
the C5. The tab for the octaves are shown below:

e|-------------------|
B|-------------------|
G|---/12--11---4/5---|
D|-----X---X---X-X---|
A|---/10---9---2/3---|
E|-------------------|

SOLO PART 2 (4:21 - 4:32)
Here's another small solo by Roll. Like before, I think that there is a dubbed third gui-
tar and therefore I will just tab all three like I did in Solo Part 1:

NOTE - Since there appears to be three guitars here, I'll just add a Guitar 3 as a guideline
and so that you don't end up utterly confused. The chords on top of the bar are the
chords played by Champ, so it is not a transcription of the notes. And the ones above
Champ's chords are the power chords for the seemingly "Guitar 3".

Guitar 1, Guitar 2 and Guitar 3
     D5 G5 D5 E5 C5
    Dsus G Dsus Em9 C9
e|-----------7``------------------------------10``-|
B|---8-8-7h8-8``-8p7---------7-7h8-8``--8p7-8------|
G|-------------------7-7``-7-----------------------|
D|-------------------------------------------------|
A|-------------------------------------------------|
E|-------------------------------------------------|

OUTRO PART (4:32 - 4:56)
Here's the final part of the song. All the instruments are gone now except for one guitar
and the vocalist. I'll be giving the tab and the lyrics as well so that you get the timing.
The final tab is shown below:

e|---------------------------------------------------|
B|---------------------------------------------------|
G|-------0-----------0-----------0-----------0-------|
D|-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0-----0---|
A|---3-----3-----3-----3---3/5-----5-----5-----5-----|
E|---------------------------------------------------|
     Still I'll sing to

e|--------------------------------------------------|--
B|--------------------------------------------------|--
G|-------0-----------0----------0-----------0-------|--
D|-----0-----0-----0------0---0-----0-----0-----0---|--
A|----------------------2---3-----3-----3-----2-----|--

BOOOYAH! Hey, you learned the *** song. This song's really easy and so you have no excuse to
say that its a difficult song. No song is difficult if you break it down into pieces (like what
I've done here). Whew! I finally finished this tab which has consumed most if my time. I'm on
standby at the moment anyway. PLEASE RATE ME AND MAIL ME. Help me become a better tabber in the
near future. You can add me in friendster by using the hotmail e-mail address and in Zorpia
using the Yahoo! address. Here are both the e-mail addresses again:

I dedicate this tab to everyone who has had faith in me as the person I am. I also dedicate this
to all those who I will meet in the future (whoever they may be), to all those I have known in my
life and to all those who I know. Specifically, I also dedicate this tab to the students of SPC
Ormoc City (love the city, love the school), specifically to my cousin Jomel Carlo and all of his
friends in Year III St. Ignatius. To his girlfriend, Leny B., to all of her friends, Cindy N. and
Zandra S. To Kristina E. (who is also a friend of my cousin's girlfriend), the girl who has capt-
ivated my heart (I LOVE HER SO MUCH), and to you for taking time in bearing with the crappy format.
