Here is an oldie and a goodie. Enjoy.

Shooting Star
Harry Chapin (klr)

E5
He was crazy, of course
          C5
>From the first she must have known it
    D5 B5
But still she went on with him
        G5 E5
And she never once had shown it

And she took him off the street
        C5
And she dried his tears of grieving
    D5 B5
She listened to his visions
       G5 E5
She be lieved in his be lieving
C5
He was the sun burning bright and brittle
    D5
And she was the moon shining back his light a little
C5
He was a shooting star
B5
She was softer and more slowly
   A5
He could not make things possible
    C5 E5
But she could make them holy, Holy
E5
He was dancing to some music
       C5
No one else had ever heard
     D5 B5
He'd speak in unknown languages
              G5 E5
And she would translate every word

And when the world was laughing
       C5
At his castles in the sky
      D5 B5
She'd hold him in her body
         G5 E5
Until he once again could fly
C5
He was the sun burning bright and brittle
    D5
And she was the moon shining back his light a little
C5
He was a shooting star
B5
She was softer and more slowly
   A5
He could not make things possible
    C5 E5
But she could make them holy, Holy
    G5 D5
She gave him a daughter and she gave him a son
          B5
She was a mother and a wife
      E5
And a lover when the day was done
          G5
He was to far gone for giving love
        D5
What he offered in its stead
        B5
Was the knowledge she was the only thing
     E5 G5 D5 E5
That was not in his head
E5
He took off east one morning
            C5
Towards the rising sun's red glow
    D5 B5
She knew he was going nowhere
       G5 E5
But of course she let him go

And as she stood and watched him dwindle
         C5
Much too empty to be sad
   D5 B5
He reappeared be side her
               G5 E5
Saying "You're all I've ever had"
C5
He was the sun burning bright and brittle
    D5
And she was the moon shining back his light a little
C5
He was a shooting star
B5
She was softer and more slowly
   A5
He could not make things possible
    C5 E5
But she could make them holy, Holy
