Tabbed by: Christian McKee
Tuning: DADF#AD, open D tuning

This is an instrumental piece by Jimmy Page that intros It Might Get Loud.
This piece is derived mainly from the unique sound of open D tuning and Page's
style and technique concerning slide guitar. While it is not difficult to play
it is difficult to emulate; getting that sound from the amp and Page's slide guitar
style are one of a kind.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are three main riffs and the rest is improv

Riff 1 - The Hook

            X         X         X
D|---------------------------------0-----|
A|---------------------------------0-----|
F|---------------------------------0-----|
D|--10-/-12---10-/-12---10-/-12----0-----| X 2
A|--10-/-12---10-/-12---10-/-12---(0)----|
D|--10-/-12---10-/-12---10-/-12---(0)----|

Listen to the song, hopefully you can figure out the muted strums and slides yourself
but I'm gonna try as best I can to tab this part out for you; you can either play the
D, D + A, or D + A + D strings. Also listen for the timing, it is essential to the piece

Riff 2 - The Meat

D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
F|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|--5-/-7---0---4-/-5---0---2-/-3---0---3-/-4---0---4-/-5----0---------------|
A|--5-/-7---0---4-/-5---0---2-/-3---0---3-/-4---0---4-/-5--------------------|
D|--5-/-7---0---4-/-5---0---2-/-3---0---3-/-4---0---4-/-5-------0------------|

Riff 3 - The Twang

       Heavy vibrato
       ~~~~~~~~~~ - small pause -
D|-------------------------------------------------------2-/-3--0------------|
A|--2-/-3--3---3------------------3--3--3----2-/-3--0------------------------|
F|--2-/-3----3---3----------------3--3--3------------------------------------|
D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
The improv is easy to pick out, a lot of it is sliding in key along the 4th (high D)
string with intermittent notes on the 6th (low D) string. As well as some two string
sliding on the 2nd (high A) string and 3rd (F#) string. Having fun with this
is necessary to making this song unique so play with some licks.
