Ive been fiddling around with this lately as it seems everyone else who's done a tab couldnt quite find the right key. The first version i'm going to do is the way Justin actually plays it himself, ill include a link so you can see him play it for youself. The reason everyone was struggling is because he plays it a HALF STEP DOWN. It can also be played without tuning down (which ill post below the original) Justin playing it live: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_sh06HLXZ8 Im also going to include the intro for those who have a second guitar player or just want to know how to play it. AGAIN TUNE A HALF STEP DOWN All the chords are standard except this one we'll call Eb/G Em/G eb|--3--| Bb|--3--| Gb|--0--| Db|--2--| Ab|--2--| Eb|--0--| One last side note- you'll hear the 5th fret of the high e string being played with every chord in the verses. That is his guitarist playing that note. The way ive written it out is exactly how Justin plays the song. (the alternate way to play it hits the note but doesnt sound nearly as good, again scroll past the first version.) Intro: (D) (A) (Em/G) (G) eb|--------------|--------------|--------------|--------------| Bb|8/10~~--------|------------8b|8~----------5v|\3v-----------| Gb|-------9/11\9~|--------------|--------------|--------------| Db|--------------|--------------|--------------|--------------| Ab|--------------|--------------|--------------|--------------| Eb|--------------|--------------|--------------|--------------| Verse: D A I've been on the Grand Ole Opry, I've played a show with ZZ Top Em/G G Went on tour with Skynyrd and man they still rock D A Shot the bull with Bocephus, before he climbed up on his jet Em/G G Played south Florida with Alan Jackson, That's some things that you never Bm A G A forget, And all that stuff it makes you feel real good, But not near as good Chorus: D A As flyin' down a back road, With some buddies from back home Bm G A splash of Jack in my Coke, Catchin' brim on a Zebco D A Spottin' deer in a hay field, After church a Sunday meal Bm G D A Huggin' mama before I go, Flyin' down a back road Verse: D A Up there in Des Moines, they knew my songs line by line Em/G G I just stood there in the fake smoke, Another dream came true that night D A I've seen so many places, I thought I'd never see Em/G G All the way from California to as far as you can go East Bm A G A And all that stuff it makes you feel real good, But not near as good... Chorus: D A As flyin' down a back road, With some buddies from back home Bm G A splash of Jack in my Coke, Catchin' brim on a Zebco D A Spottin' deer in a hay field, After church a Sunday meal Bm G D Huggin' mama before I go, Flyin' down a back road Bm A G I'm a lucky man, I got a real good life A G Em/G With all the things I've done nothin' gets me as high... Chorus: D A As flyin' down a back road, With some buddies from back home Bm G A splash of Jack in my Coke, Catchin' brim on a Zebco D A Spottin' deer in a hay field, After church a Sunday meal Bm G D A Huggin' mama before I go, Flyin' down a back road Em/G G D Oh, flyin' down a back road Now for the alternate version if you don't want to tune down (as i said before the tradeoff is it doesnt sound as good but you dont have to tune and you hit that note on the high e string that his guitarist plays throughout) Capo on the 1st fret Chords used: Verse: follow the lyrics above and trade out this chord progression C/G G Dm/F F/G e|---3---|---3---|---3---|---3---| B|---1---|---3---|---1---|---1---| G|---0---|---0---|---2---|---2---| D|---2---|---0---|---0---|---3---| A|---3---|---2---|---0---|-------| E|-------|---3---|-------|-------| or if you dont like that third fret on the high e that Justin's guitarist plays just play a regular C, G, Dm/F, F progression. The Dm/F is the only tricky one and that would change to Dm/F |---1---| |---1---| |---2---| |---0---| |---0---| |-------| Pre Chorus: Am G F G And all that stuff it makes you feel real good, but not near as good Chorus: Again follow the lyrics above but use the progression: C, G, Am, F
