Here's my shot at "Say Goodbye" by Sanctus Real, from their "Fight the Tide" album. The strum pattern is pretty weird, so I'm not bothering with that. Their guitar is tuned to D Standard (NOT Drop D), so it won't sound right if your guitar is in E Standard tuning. A lot of hammer-ons and pull-offs on the D string on the 2nd fret. The chord-change timing varies in the intro and verses, as well. First half of intro, chord changes happen on about the first and fourth beats; second half of intro, chord changes happen on first and third beats. Listen to the song and I think you'll catch it. Four harmonic plucks on 5th fret, then: Intro: C Fsus4 C Fsus4 Am Fsus4 Am Fsus4 Verse 1: C Fsus4 So say goodbye 'cause you'll be leaving soon C Fsus4 I know it's hard, and I'll be missing you Am Fsus4 C Fsus4 I know it's time to say goodbye C Fsus4 I know the road has worn you down C Fsus4 You never broke; you always held your ground Am Fsus4 C But now it's time to say goodbye Prechorus: F C I know we'll meet again, but I wish it'd never end G F C You don't mean to make me cry...but it's so hard to say goodbye Chorus: Am G C F Am G C F Say goodbyyy-yyy-yye; say goodbyyy-yyy-yye Verse 2: C Fsus4 And though you're gone, I remember now C Fsus4 The time we shared; your words still ring out Am Fsus4 C You're never far; you're in my heart Prechorus: F C I know we'll meet again, but I wish it'd never end G F C You don't mean to make me cry...but it's so hard to say goodbye Chorus: Am G C F Am G C F Say goodbyyy-yyy-yye; say goodbyyy-yyy-yye Prechorus: F C I know we'll meet again, but I wish it'd never end G F You don't mean to make me cry...but it's so hard... End: F Am Someday we'll meet again, 'cause that's how the story ends G F It's so hard to say goodbye C Say goodbye
