I think this is actually bass.

I don't agree with some of the tabs for this song so I wrote my own. 

These two parts alternating, played over and over. The second part is played just before the chorus,
but play the 3 notes at the end just after the pause. Then jump back into the first part. This happens
a few times throughout the song. It doesn't matter when you play the different riffs, it always sounds good.
