I read a different tab for this song by Mike B but it just didn't sound right to me, sorry who ever Mike B is. The other tabs on OLGA for this song just don't seem accurate to me either. b = bend rb = release bend \ = slide down ...= let ring Main Riff (clean) e--------------------------|------------------------ B--------------------------|------------------------ G------2-------------------|------------------------ D----2---2-------4---------|---0---0---------------- A--0-----------4---4-------|-----0---0-------------- E------------2--------0...-|------------------------ Main Riff Continued e-------^---^---^----------|------------------------ B-------^---^---^----------|-------------------0---- G-------^---^---^----------|----------------4--0---- D----(same as above)-------|--2\4-4---4-----4------- A--------------------------|--------0---4----------- E--------------------------|------------------------ Riff A (play this distorted before the chorus kicks in) e------------------ B------------------ G------------------ D-4-4-4-4------0--- A---------4-4--0--- E------------------ Chorus (distorted) e-------b---------b-----------------b--- B-------3---------3-----------------3--- G--2-2---------------------------------- D--2-2------4-4---------2---4-4-4------- A--0-0------4-4---------2---------4----- E-----------2-2---------0--------------- Bridge e----------------|---b------------ B----------------|---3---3-3------ G----------------|---------------- D--4--------2----|---------------- A--4-(8x)---2----|---------------- E--2--------0----|---------------- Bridge Continued e---^---^----^---|---------------- B---^---^----^---|---------------- G---^---^----^---|---------------- D-(same as above)|-(play Riff A)-- A----------------|---------------- E----------------|---------------- SOLO! e------------------------------------------------------- B------------------------------------------------------- G-0-0-b12-rb-p10---0-0-b10-rb-p8---0---b8-rb----5------- D----------------------------------0---------------8-7-- A------------------------------------------------------- E------------------------------------------------------- Repeat 2x then just end it with a E--------- B--------- G---0----- D---0...-- A--------- E--------- Outro (same as the bridge part, but different) e----------------|---b------------ B----------------|---3...--------- G----------------|---------------- D--4--------2----|---------------- A--4-(8x)---2----|---------------- E--2--------0----|---------------- e---^---^----^---|---------------- B---^---^----^---|---------------- G---^---^----^---|---------------- D-(same as above)|-4-4-4-4-------- A----------------|---------4-4...- E----------------|---------------- There you go, this took me a few hours of messing around... but i think its pretty close. I'm not sure about a few things, like those high notes in the chorus and bridge. But when I play along with the song it sounds good to me :) Date: Sat, 29 Mar 2003 17:46:07 +0000 From: Peter Gordon <pete@shagged.org> Subject: n/nirvana/heart_shaped_box.tab Song: Heart shaped box Artist: Nirvana Album: In Utero Tabbed by Peter Gordon (pete@shagged.org) You can play this in a simple drop-d tuning, but if you want to play along to the CD, you'll have to drop all the strings down 2 semitones from there. I tabbed this because the one already on olga.net seemed very wrong indeed. I can't claim its perfect, but it does sound OK with the CD playing. I haven't tabbed the solo, i'm afraid. Play the riffs in this order: 1 2 1 3, then repeat 1 & 3 until the chorus.
