F5 F5 The pekes and the pollicles everyone knows F5 C5 - F5 - Are a proud and implacable passionate foes C5 F5 - It is always the same whereever one goes F5 And the Pugs and the Poms although most people say F5 C5 - F5 - That they do not like fighting yet once in a way C5 - C5 F5 They will now and again join into the fray and they Bark bark bark bark bark bark bark bark E5 - F5 - C5 - F5 - Until you could hear them all over the park and they Bark bark bark bark bark bark bark bark E5 - F5 - C5 - F5 - Until you could hear them all over the park F5 F5 Now on the occassion of which I shall speak F5 C5 - F5 - Almost nothing had happened for nearly a week C5 - C5 - C5 - F5 - And that's a long time for a Pol or a Peke F5 F5 The big police dog was away from his beat F5 C5 - F5 - I don't know the reason but most people think C5 - C5 - C5 - F5 - He slipped into the Wellington Arms for a drink Bb5 - Eb5 - Ab5 - C#5 - And no one at all was about on the street F#5 - C5 - F5 When a Peke and a Pollicle happened to meet Bb5 - Eb5 - Ab5 - C#5 - They did not advance or exactly retreat F#5 - C5 But they glared at each other and scraped their hind feet and they started to Bark bark bark bark bark bark bark bark E5 - F5 - C5 - F5 - Until you could hear them all over the park F5 F5 Now the Peke although people may say what they please F5 C5 - F5 - Is no British dog but a heathen Chinese F5 F5 And so all the Pekes when they heard the uproar F5 C5 - F5 - Some came to the window, some came to the door C5 F5 - There were surely a dozen more likely a score Bb5 - Eb5 - Ab5 - C#5 - And together they started to grumble and wheeze F#5 - C5 - F5 In their huffery-snuffery heathen Chinese Bb5 - Eb5 - Ab5 - C#5 - But a terrible din is what Pollicles like F#5 - C#5 - F5 For your Pollicle dog is a dour Yorkshire tyke Bb5 - F - Bb5 There are dogs out of every nation F5 - C5 - F5 the Irish, the Welsh and the Dane: Ab5 Eb5 The Russian, the Dutch, the Dalmatian, Bb5 - Bb5 - Eb5 - Eb5 - and even from China and Spain. Bb5 - F5 - Bb5 The Poodle, the Pom , the Alsatian F5 - C5 - F5 - Eb5 - And the Mastiff who walks on a chain. Bb5 - F5 - Bb5 And to those that are frisky and frolical, Bb5 Ab5 Let my meaning be perfectly plain: Bb5 - F5 - Bb5 That my name it is little Tom Pollicle, Bb5 - Ab5 - Bb5 and you'd better not do it again!" Bb5 - Eb5 - Ab5 - C#5 - When suddenly up from a small basement flat F#5 - C5 Eb- - Ab5 Why who should stalk out but the Great Rumpus Cat!!!! His eyes were like fireballs fearfully blazing He gave a great yawn and his jaws were amazing And when he looked out through the bars of the area You never saw anything fiercer.... ...Or hairier F5 F5 And what with a glare of his eyes and his yawning C5 - F5 - The Pekes and the Pollicles quickly took warning F5 F5 He looked at the sky and he gave a great leap F5 C5 - F5 - And they every last one of them scattered like sheep!
