C5 All the streets are filled with laughter and light G5 and the music of the season C5 and the merchant's windows are all bright G5 E5 with the faces of the children C5 G5 and the families hurry into their homes C5 G5 as the sky darkens and freezes C5 G5 We'll be gathering around our hearths and tables F5 C5 Giving thanks for God's graces C5 D5 C5 and the birth of the rebel Jesus C5 Well they call him by the Prince of Peace G5 And they call him by the Savior C5 and they pray to Him upon the seats G5 E5 and in every bold endeavor C5 G5 and they fill His chuches with their pride and gold C5 G5 as their faith in Him increases C5 G5 but they've turned the nature that I worship in F5 C5 from a temple to a robber's den C5 G5 C5 in the words of the rebel Jesus C5 We guard our world with locks and guns G5 and we guard our fine posessions C5 and once a year when christmas comes G5 E5 we give to our relations C5 G5 and perhaps we give a little to the poor C5 G5 if the generosity should seize us C5 G5 but if anyone of us should interfere F5 C5 in the business of why there are poor C5 G5 C5 we'll get the same as the rebel Jesus C5 but pardon me if I have seemed G5 to take the tone of judgment C5 for I've no wish to come between G5 E5 this day and your enjoyment C5 G5 in a life of hardship and of earthly toil C5 G5 there's a need for anything that frees us C5 G5 So I bid you pleasure and I bid you cheer F5 C5 from a heathen and a pagan C5 G5 C5 on the side of the rebel Jesus
