Tabbed by: maguri Tuning: Standard Buddy Holly Don't Come Back Knocking (1955) (Buddy Holly/Sue Parrish) Now on: "Down the Line - Rarities [CD 1]" This is what I could figure out. The chords are of course not always plain major chords, sometimes you have to add the 7 or 6. The solos are not exactly what Holly plays but it's at least close. I can't really make up my mind whether the guitar on the recording is finger-picked or not. In this case some notes add themselves naturally to the main line I tabbed below. Even though there are some imperfections here and there, I'm especially dissatisfied with bar 10 of SOLO 1. I hear two notes played simultaneously there but I can't figure out how to play them. Must be some special Rockabilly voicing that I just don't know. Do you? Comments and corrections are highly welcome! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- F Well, when you went away and left me all alone F While you played around, I waited at home Bb F Don't come back knockin' at my heart's closed door C Bb F Or I won't be home, don't call and knock no more F You had all my heart, was your very own F You weren't satisfied, now I'll go on alone Bb F Don't come back knockin' at my heart's closed door C Bb F Or I won't be home, don't call and knock no more SOLO 1 F e|/13131313131313-|/13131313131313-|1613------------|----------------| B|/13131313131313-|/13131313131313-|1313--1513------|----------------| G|----------------|----------------|------1513--15--|13--------------| D|----------------|----------------|------------15--|1315--13--------| A|----------------|----------------|----------------|--15--1315--13--| E|----------------|----------------|----------------|--------15--13--| Bb F e|----------------|----------------|----------------|----------------| B|----9-----------|9-----9---------|----6-----------|6-----6---------| G|----------6-----|--6-------6-----|----------8-----|--8-------------| D|------------8---|----8-------8---|------------7---|----7-----------| A|----------------|----------------|8---------------|----------------| E|6---------------|----------------|----------------|----------------| C Bb F e|----------------|----------------|1-------------1-|------1---------| B|------9---9-----|--------9-8-----|----------1-----|--4-------------| G|--9-------------|--4/5---7-7-----|------1h2-------|----------------| D|----8-------8---|----------------|----------------|----------------| A|----------------|----------------|----------------|----------------| E|8---------------|----------------|----------------|----------------| F Well, I found that you're a rover and it's made me blue F Like a talent scout you want a love that's new Bb F Don't come back knockin' at my heart's closed door C Bb F Or I won't be home, don't call and knock no more SOLO 2 F e|----13----------|13--------------|13--------------|----------------| B|--------1613----|--16--13--------|----16--13------|------13--------| G|----------------|----------------|----------14--13|--14------14----| D|----------------|-----------15---|----------------|------------15--| A|----------------|----------------|----------------|----------------| E|----------------|----------------|----------------|----------------| Bb F e|----6-----------|--6-------------|----1-----------|1-----1---------| B|----------6-----|9-----9---6-----|----1-------4---|--4-------------| G|------------7---|------------7-1h|2---------------|----------------| D|----------------|----------------|----------------|----------------| A|----------------|----------------|----------------|----------------| E|----------------|----------------|----------------|----------------| C Bb F e|--8-------8-----|--8---6---------|----13----------|13----13--------| B|----8-11--------|--------9-6-----|----------16----|--16------------| G|9-------9-------|7-----------7---|------------14--|----14----------| D|----------------|----------------|----------------|----------------| A|----------------|----------------|----------------|----------------| E|----------------|----------------|13--------------|--------13------| F Well, pity those with hearts so empty and cold F To never know true love, a treasure to hold Bb F Don't come back knockin' at my heart's closed door C Bb F Or I won't be home, don't call and knock no more
