Cosmo Jarvis - Sure As Hell Not Jesus ------------------------------ Key of B with Capo 2, ear-transcribed on ukulele by Neil Killer. ------------------------------ A lot of the guitar chords in this song are hard to decipher; I always found something to tweak in these chords after I took a break and came back. The chord after Bm in the chorus is hard to hear, but it sounds like either an E or an A. I went with E because it fits better with the A at the end of the chorus and also follows the pattern of the solo towards the end. The bridge has sort of a partial key change, and it's *very* difficult to hear the chords clearly, but the progression I came up with sounds pretty much perfect when I play it together with the song. ------------------------------ The song is played with a Capo 2, as seen in the "rehearsal" video on YouTube. If you're not using a capo, hit the "Up 2 Half Steps" button. I like playing it in the key of C (hit "Up 3 Half Steps") since it sounds best like that on my ukulele. ------------------------------ [Capo 2] VERSE 1: D5 Here I sit B5 If I didn't need nobody, I'd thank God for it E5 A5 ( Ab5 A5 ) There'd be nothing that'd stop me getting on with it D5 It'd be me and my brain B5 E5 And my pain, and my shame D5 I guess I do B5 This carpark's only got one space and it's for you E5 A5 ( Ab5 A5 ) Alone can show an ugly face, so pull me through D5 To where I won't need a light B5 To see at night E5 ( D5 ) Cos I'll be alright CHORUS: E5 B5 E5 You're sure as hell not Jesus, but you're saving me B5 E5 B5 E5 Thank you very much for putting faith in me B5 E5 B5 E5 Reminding me a light was once so great to be B5 E5 A5 ( A5 ) I'm glad I made a friend that doesn't pray for me VERSE 2: D5 Here I wait B5 For something bad and saddening to draw my way E5 A5 ( Ab5 A5 ) I fight to give it everything and lose I may D5 But I still got you somewhere B5 It's just upstairs E5 Maybe I care D5 Guess I am B5 No big and strong Goliath, I'm a wandering man E5 A5 ( Ab5 A5 ) And sometimes I get tired and I'm glad a hand D5 Comes and slaps me and then B5 It goes again E5 ( D5 ) I guess you're my friend CHORUS: E5 B5 E5 You're sure as hell not Jesus, but you're saving me B5 E5 B5 E5 Thank you very much for putting faith in me B5 E5 B5 E5 Reminding me a light was once so great to be B5 E5 A5 ( A5 ) I'm glad I made a friend that doesn't pray for me BRIDGE: B5 So thanks, my little angel, (thank you too!)
