Man on the Street (1961)
(Bob Dylan)
From: "The Bootleg Series Volumes 1-3. 1961-1991 [Disc 1]"

Very laconic and beautiful. The guitar alternates between two main patterns
(pattern 1 featuring slight variations here and there, pattern 2 pretty much
stays the same throughout the song). The bass is played with the thumb and
the chords are strummed.

VERSE 1 (Pattern 1 / Pattern 1)
     G
I'll sing you a song it ain't very long,
                                Em
About an old man who never done wrong.
G
How he died nobody can say,
                                      Em
They found him dead in the street one day.

VERSE 2 (Pattern 1 / Pattern 2)
        G
And the crowd, they gathered one fine morn,
                                        Em
At the man whose clothes 'n' shoes were torn.
G
There on the sidewalk he did lay,
                                            Em
They stopped 'n' stared and they went their way.

VERSE 3 (Pattern 1 / Pattern 2)
          G
Well, the p'liceman come and he looked around,
                                      Em
"Get up, old man, or I'm a-takin' you down."
   G
He jabbed him once with his bully club
                                Em
The old man then rolled off the curb.

VERSE 4 (Pattern 2 / Pattern 2)
         G
Well, he jabbed him again and loudly said,
                             Em
"Call the wagon; this man is dead."
    G
The wagon come, they loaded him in,
                     Em
I never saw the man again.
