Hey, i couldn't help but notice, NO ONE on the FACE OF THE EARTH seems to know how to play this solo, save Rzeznik himself, and so there were no tabs to be found.

so here goes:

Iris Solo

tuned: B D D D D D

I'd reccomend tuning down another half-step...the 5th string takes less tension that way, and the vocals are easier to manage, epecially if you're the singer as well as the guitarist, as Rzeznik is...

transcribed by: John Blackham

notice, this isn't my first tab, but i'm still new to this...this was just what i heard on the CD, it could be wrong...bear with me...thanks!

notation:

// = slide up from 0 fret
\ = slide down past 0 fret, colliding with the nut if you want.
~~ = vibrato
/  = normal slide
b(x)  = bend: x = full, 1/2, or 1+1/2
r  = release bend

somewhere in the interlude, guitar 2 comes in:

D:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D:--//12~~~~12-11~~~~~-7/12~~~~~-14-14b(full)~~~~--7/12~~~~--16/11~~~~--7/9~~~~--//21~~~~~\--
D:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

cont.

D:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D:--//12-14/16~~~/19--21b(full)b(1+1/2)r(full)--20/15--21b(full)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (hold, fade out)
D:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

yes, those are nasty bends, there. thank you, i think it's at least 98% right...it sounds exactly like what John plays on the album, anyway... For the purposes of A. having fun, and B. sounding better, I would suggest you relax your hand a lot, and let it slide along the fretboard in a fluid motion...
