Carbon Ribs (from 2 Samuel 9)
From "The Medicine"
Tabbed by thechadmiller (Twitter)

I can't even begin to figure out what James is doing this entire song, but
it's awesome. Playing live, he uses delay, swells with a volume pedal, and
I'm sure some other effects. For the acoustic, here are the chords with
the basic tab notes below.

Played in E, but play the song Capo 4 in the C position

Capo 4

Intro x2
C - G - F - G

Verse 1
C G
A Thousand pairs of fiery eyes burn like a serpent down the hwy 5
       F G C
As the long amber tail to Los Angeles unwinds
(C)
I've got this resurrection down inside my skin
    G F G C
But for all my revelating I just cant make sense of this gravity we're in

Pre-Chorus
            Am
Cause I'm a dead man now with a ghost who lives
           G
Within the confines of these carbon ribs
    F G Am
And one day when I'm free I will sit

Chorus
     G C G F G C
The cripple at your table The cripple by your side

Intro

Verse 2
C G
A thousand miles of pain I'm sure led you to the threshold of my hearts screen door
     F G C
To tell me what it is I'm dying for
(C) G
Gravity comes like a cold cold rain to lead me to the rope again
        F G C
But someone is standing in my place

Pre-Chorus
Chorus x2

Bridge x2
   Am G F G
And I sit beside you… And I sit beside you

Outro (this isn't on the album but is usually played live; the chorus of
the hymn "Nothing but the Blood")

C G F G
Oh precious is the flow that makes me white as snow
C Am C F G C
No other fount I know, Nothing but the blood of Jesus

Tab relative to capo 4
Pick these notes while playing the main structure above
e|------------------------3--------------------------------------------|
B|--3-5-over-and-over---5----------------------------------------------|
G|---------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|-------------------------------0h2-----------------------------------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------------|

To play it in the Capo 4 C position works better since it makes the lead
"ditty" easier to play (and it's the way JMM plays it live). For the actual
chords, transpose it above by clicking "up 4 half steps" to get it in E.
