Change the B note (second fret) to C (third fret) in the G chord to make
it Gsus4. Early in the song he sticks to the low strings on the guitar
chords, but later, for effect, I like to just play all the strings.
Here's about how I strum, but it's probably easiest just to strum by ear.

 Em C G Gsus4 G Gsus4

Em C G-Gsus4 G-Gsus4

Em C
ten years older than I was what I brought you down to see,
G -Gsus4 G -Gsus4
what I thought would make you fall in love
Em C
wearing off on our dreams someday man I’m gonna be
   G -Gsus4 G -Gsus4
no different than the other rivers
Em C
I tried to look at you but I couldn’t break the ice
G -Gsus4 G -Gsus4
you stood out there for an hour freezing
Em C
put your hand around my back I guess you thought I needed that

G -Gsus4 G -Gsus4

G C
I never tried to find you
                       G C
and I hope you don't remember me and I hope you’re not alone

Em C G-Gsus4 G-Gsus4

Em C
wanted me to take you home. you said you'd rather be alone
G -Gsus4 G -Gsus4
  I never thought of that
Em
car was warm and we had wine
    C G
but I couldn't find the perfect song
Em C
now I own furniture for worn crows feet
      G -Gsus4 G -Gsus4
and I can't even remember the car
Em C
sometimes I can feel your weight when i close my eyes
G -Gsus4 G -Gsus4
seven times I was under you

G C
I never tried to find you
                       G C
and I hope you don't remember me and I hope you’re not alone
    G C
and I don't wanna know what your thinking
                    G C
I’m looking out the window--drinkin’ drinkin’ drinkin’

Em C G-Gsus4 G-Gsus4

Em
shallow frame and shaky sticks
    C G-Gsus4 G-Gsus4
but I know there's a river in me
Em
shallow minded adult tricks
    C G-Gsus4 G-Gsus4
but I know there's a river in me
Em
shallow frame and shaky sticks
    C G-Gsus4 G-Gsus4
but I know there's a river in me

G C
I never tried to find you
                       G C
and I hope you don't remember me and I hope you’re not alone
    G C
and I don't wanna know what your thinking
                    G C Em
I’m looking out the window--drinkin’ drinkin’ drinkin’
