No one expects to hear a nice acoustic version of anything
by The Postal Service!

Introduction, repeat through first verse

Smeared black ink, your palms are sweaty and I'm barely listening to last demands.
I'm staring at the asphalt wonderin', what's buried underneath?

Wear my badge, vinyl sticker with big block letters adherent to my chest. Tells
your new friends: I am a visitor here, I am not permanent. And the only thing
keeping me dry is (where I am)

You seem so out of context in this gaudy apartment complex. A stranger with your
door key explaining that I'm just visiting. I am finally seeing, well I was the
one worth leaving.

Melody part before final chorus:

-8-8---------8-8---------------------------|
-------------------------8-----8------5-3--|
------12-12-------12-12-----9-----9---5-4--|
10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10--12-12-12-12--5-3--|

-8-8---------8-8--------------------------|
-------------------------8-----8-------3--|
------12-12-------12-12-----9-----9----4--|
10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10--12-12-12-12---3--|
-8--8--8--8--8--8--8--8--10-10-10-10---5--|
--------------------------8--8--8--8---3--|

-8-8---------8-8---------------------------------------|
-------------------------8-----8------5-3--5-3-5-3-5-3-|
------12-12-------12-12-----9-----9---5-4--4-4-4-4-4-4-|
10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10--12-12-12-12--5-3--3-3-3-3-3-3-|
-8--8--8--8--8--8--8--8--10-10-10-10--5-5--5-5-5-5-5-5-|
--------------------------8--8--8--8--3-3--3-3-3-3-3-3-|

It's hard to match the energy of the final chorus with just your acoustic
guitar, but strumming it strongly while picking up the tempo some will help.
-5---8---3--|
-5---8---3--|
-7---9---4--|
10--12---3--|
-8--10---5--|
-5---8---3--|

This ending is different than the ending in the song but it sounds the same and
acts as a good ending for an acoustic version. Just strum/pick it slowly and
ambiently then fade it out.

-5----8----7---7---7-|
-5----8----8---8---8-|
-7----9----7---7---7-|
-10---12---9---9---9-|
-8----10---10--10--7-|
-5----8------------0-| repeat
