HAPPINESS IS A WARM GUN

Note on fingerpicking part in beginning of the song: the bottom three
strings (low E, A, and D) are only struck by the thumb. Your thumb
should have a steady motion and strike on each downbeat: strike the
A string then the D string then the E string then the D string--thats
four count--then start over again. So the key to knocking this is
getting comfortable with the thumb motion. Once you get that, add in
the remaining strings using your other fingers. By the way, this is
the same pattern John uses on Dear Prudence! Oh, when the Dm comes, the
thumb just moves up a string so that it plucks the A, D, and G strings;
other than that the pattern is the same. Have fun!

Fingerpicking pattern:

  -7- has the 7th added.

MARTHA,MY DEAR

Notes:
This is mostly a piano & orchestra performance on the White album.
I've always liked the song, so came up with this arrangement for guitar
accompaniment.

Any ideas for fleshing this out, improving or arranging an intro for it,
let me know. Also, this is my first full attempt at writing guitar
tab notation, so hope its close enough for government work .

I use capo at 3rd fret (chords listed are transposed to 1st position)
The song is really in key of E flat on the record (not C)

Were meant to be with each other, you silly girl

Hold your head up, you silly girl, see what you've done
When you find yourself in the thick of it,
Help yourself to a bit of what is all around you,
You silly girl

Martha, my dear, you have always been my inspiration
Please, be good to me,
Martha, my dear, don't forget me,
Martha, my love

you know I'd give you everything I've got for a little peace of mind.

I'm so tired, I'm feeling so upset. Although I'm so tired, I'll have another
cigarette and curse Sir Walter Raleigh, he was such a stupid get.
You say...

The song consists of these parts in a mix I can't remember
exactly right now but listen to the recording and I think
you will find out.
As always, the timing isn't in the tab, just the fingering.

intro
-----

Now somewhere in the black mining hills out Dakota
There lived a young boy name of Rocky Raccoon
And one day his woman ran off with another guy
Hit young Rocky in the eye...
Rocky didn't like that, he said, "I'm going to get that boy."
So one day he walked into town and booked himself a room in the local
saloon.

Rocky Racoon checked into his room
only to find Gideon's bible

Rocky had come equipped with a gun
to shoot off the legs of his rival.

His rival, it seems, had broken his dreams
by stealing the girl of his fancy

Her name was McGill, and she called herself 'Lil'
But everyone knew her as Nancy.

Now she and her man (who called himself Dan)
Were in the next room at the hoedown

Rocky burst in, and grinning a grin,
he said, "Danny boy, this is a showdown."

But Daniel was hot. He drew first and shot
and Rocky collapsed in the corner.

Da-n-da da da-n-da da da...

Now the doctor came in stinking of gin
and proceeded to lie on the table.

He said, "Rocky, you met your match."
But Rocket said, "Doc, it's only a scratch.
And I'll be better... I'll be better Doc as soon as I am able."

Now Rocky Raccoon, he fell back in his room
only to find Gideon's bible.

Gideon checked out, and he left it no dobt
to help with good Rocky's revival.

Oh yeah, yeah
Da-n-da da da-n-da da da...

I WILL

This song is in F, but the gutar shapes used are in E. I
can't tell if a capo is used on the first fret, the guitars
are tuned up a step, or the tape has been altered. But we
can play along by capoing the first fret and playing in E.
I have also included a version in F for those with capophobia.

      E C#m7 F#m7 B7
Who knows how long I've loved you?
     E C#m7 G#m
You know I love you still.
 E7 A B7 C#m7 E
Will I wait a lonely lifetime?
        A B7 E A B7 (with riff 1: see below)
If you want me to, I will.

     E C#m7 Fm#7 B7
For if I ever saw you,
   E C#m7 G#m
I didn't catch your name.
E7 A B7 C#m7 E
But it never really mattered;
         A B7 E E7 (with riff 2)
I will always feel the same.

 A G#m C#m (with riff 3)
Love you forever and forever,
F#m B7 E E7 (with riff 2)
Love you with all of my heart.
 A G#m C#m
Love you whenever we're together,
