To Live and Die in L.A. - Tupac Shakur ----------------------------------------------------------------- Tabbed by: Richard Tetta Email: richard.tetta@gmail.com Tuning: Standard G|-------10-------------------------------10-----------------------| D|------------------------------7-7--------------------------------| A|-5-7-8-----8-8-10-8-7-7-10-10-----7-7-8------8-8-10-8-7-7--------| E|---------8---------------------------------8--------------5------| G|-------10-------------------------------10-----------------------| D|------------------------------7-7--------------------------------| A|-5-7-8-----8-8-10-8-7-7-10-10-----5-7-8------8-8-10-8-7-7--------| E|---------8---------------------------------8--------------5------| Alternating phrase, played in lower register: G|----------------------------------------------------------------| D|---7-----5-----3------3-------2---------------------------------| A|------------------------3---------------------------------------| E|-5---5-3---3-1--0-1-1-----1-0---5-------------------------------| And that’s basically it. I usually approach the song by working off of that main riff, and then varying it with the alternating riff played an octave lower. However, since the fundamental chord progression of the song never changes, I also think you should feel free to experiment a bit with the basic lick, and add some additional notes in there to make it more interesting, and give it some variety. But don’t get too crazy. You generally want to stick with roots, octaves, and fifths.
