Songs for the One I Lov...

By Andrew Wojcik (lyra14@lycos.com)

This is a very beautiful song, one of Coldplay's finest. I must
first surrender responsibility of the original tab to Joe Brandon from
http://suggestedtab.tripod.com (rimsky@thewavz.com). It was a very
good tab (accurate), but it was in a very odd tuning (EAEAC#e). All I have done
really is converted it into standard tuning. This tab is my own work. I think it's
pretty correct (it's technically the same, you play the same notes), and I have
played both versions (Mr. Brandon's and mine) and they sound almost the same,
if the muting is done properly. Please be kind, despite it being fairly messy and
simple, as this is my first tab. Here we go:

Riff 1 x3

strum (listen to song for rythym)

e]0----0----0----0----0------0----0---
B]5----7----9----2/4----4----2/4----4-
G]x----x----9----x-----------x--------
D]x----x----x----x-----------x--------
A]4----6----x----2-----------2--------
E]0----0----0----0-----------0--------

Riff 2

0-------0--------0------0---0----0------0-----0----
10---------10----9---9------2/4-----4---2/4-------4
x----------------9----------x-----------x----------
x----------------x----------x-----------x----------
9-----9----------x----------2-----------2----------
0----------------0----------0-----------0----------

Verse 1 is the same as riff 1, but it has a different rythym pattern.
Once again, listen to the song.

Chorusx2

2/9---4---7--6---4----2--4/9---4---7---6---4----5---5/9---4---4--0
-----------------5----5--------------------5----5-------------5---
-----------------x----x--------------------x----x-------------x---
-----------------x----x--------------------x----x-------------x---
-----------------x----x--------------------x----x-------------x---
-----------------0----0--------------------0----0-------------0---

Chorus (continued)

5-------5---5--------5---4--------4---0---------0
5----5------5-----5------5-----5------5------5---
x-----------x------------x------------x----------
x-----------x------------x------------x----------
4--4--------4--4---------4--4---------4--4-------
0-----------0------------0------------0----------

Outro

The outro is riff 1 played four times followed by riff 2 played four
times, roughly the same rythym if I can remember correctly.

Enjoy yourselves, this is a pretty easy song to play. But a word of
advice. You have to mute strings quite a few times, use your other
fingers, usually your 2nd and 3rd fingers (or sometimes just one of
them) to mute them. Completely. If you have any problems or comments,
don't hesitate to email me.

Take care and God Bless,
Andrew
