Intro:
I'm not 100% sure that the beginning riff is correct, but it sounds really close. Also,
even after listening to this song a dozen of times, I still can't figure out how Rzeznik
gets that jangly sound on this riff. I was thinking maybe it's a pitch shifter, phaser, 
chorus or even some delay effect, or maybe it's not even a guitar in the beginning,
because I've noticed they play it on keyboards live. Anyway, if anyone knows how to get 
this sound, please feel free to explain in the comments. :)
