INFO BY THE TABBER
------------------
The chords are pretty straightforward, what's more difficult is capturing
the beat and piano bass.

Personally, I like to play the first verse through the second chorus (i.e.
until the bridge) in a pretty straight 4/4 strum, with a small crescendo
throughout. I play the first part of the bridge pretty sparsely (one strum
per chord), but the second part (G - F - Am - G) I pick up the beat again,
go 8/8 with crescendo, and then culminate in the release on the chorus.

Again, this is a personal choice. In other words, play it as you like.

INTRO
-----
G C G

VERSE 1
-------
   G
If this is redemption, why do I bother at all?
        Em C G
There's nothing to mention, and nothing has changed
C D Em
Still I'd rather be working at something, than praying for the rain
     C D G
So I wander on, till someone else is saved

VERSE 2 (same chords as Verse 1)
-------
I moved to the coast, under a mountain
Swam in the ocean, slept on my own
At dawn i would watch the sun, cut ribbons through the bay
I'd remember all, the things my mother wrote

CHORUS
------
              Em C G
That we don't eat until your father's at the table
             Em C G
And we don't drink until the devil's turned to dust
          Em C G D/F# Em
And never once has any man I've met been able to love
   C D G Gsus4 G
So if I were you, I'd have a little trust

VERSE 3
-------
Two thousand years, I've been in that water
Two thousand years, sunk like a stone
Desperately reaching for nets that the fishermen have thrown
Trying to find a little bit of hope

VERSE 4
-------
Me, I was holding, all of my secrets soft and hid
Pages were folded; then there was nothing at all
So if in the future I might, need myself a savior
I'll remember what was written on that wall

CHORUS
------
That we don't eat until your father's at the table
And we don't drink until the devil's turned to dust
And never once has any man I've met been able to love
So if I were you, I'd have a little trust

BRIDGE
------
Dm Em
Am I an honest man and true?
                           Dm
Have I been good to you at all?
                                 Am
Oh I'm so tired of playing these games

We'd just be running down
    G
The same old lines, the same old stories of
F
Breathless trains and, worn down glories
Am
   Houses burning, worlds that turn
G
   On their own

CHORUS
------
              Em C G
That we don't eat until your father's at the table
             Em C G
And we don't drink until the devil's turned to dust
          Em C G D/F# Em
And never once has any man I've met been able to love
      C
So if I were you my friend
D G
Learn to have just a little bit of trust.
