Tabbed by: Noah Fulton Tuning: standard (capo 1) Hello this is my first tab. I love this tune by johnny and wanted to contribute to the small collection of tabs on here that I started learning his songs from. This is not a complete tab but should give you a basic start to work off of. Any comments or help would be much appreciated!! Enjoy and try to see Flynn live, he?s amazing! Chords: E B F#(I think..) A E B F# A e|-----0------2------4-----0-| B|-----0------4------5-----2-| G|-----1------4------4-----2-| D|-----2------4------2-----2-| A|-----2------2------2-----0-| E|-----0------2------0-----0-| How I fingerpick: the rhythm is a little difficult. Try alternating between the two lower notes with your thumb first to get that rhythm(as I have tried to describe) down then adding the top 2 notes. One of them is an 8th that you have to sneeeak in there - Just listen closely to the recording too I am pretty sure this is how johnny does it. Chorus: E B F# A e|---0-------2----|---4------------| B|------0-------4-|------5----2--2-| G|----------------|----------------| D|---2---2---4---4|---2---2---2---2| A|---------2---2--|---------0---0--| E|-0---0----------|-0---0----------| Rhythym: 1 2 3 4 | 1 2 3 4 | Refrain: E B A E e|---0-------2----|----------0-----| B|------0-------4-|--2--2-------0--| G|----------------|----------------| D|---2---2---4---4|--2---2---2---2-| A|---------2---2--|0---0-----------| E|-0---0----------|--------0---0---| Rhythym: 1 2 3 4 | 1 2 3 4 | Chorus: E B This is the calendar F# A These are the dates E B F# A You know you'll be, you won't know what you'll see E B F# A The routes might change so all that remains E B F# Is the pull from place to place (Not sure about this bridge but he appears to work his way back to the E by going:) B A Refrain: E B A E We left our homes in the spring sunshine E B A E Things came alive when I knew they weren't mine E B A E Falling in line didn't matter at all E B A E We knew we'd go when we each heard the call E B A E This is the calendar These are the dates You know you'll be, you won't know what you'll see The routes might change so all that remains Is the pull from place to place The pylons found fault lines to run through the heart The heart of the land beat with odd fits and starts So they ran round the oldest and grey of the hills So as to let the old die without power or pills This is the calendar These are the dates You know you'll be, you won't know what you'll see The routes might change so all that remains Is the pull from place to place Dublin to Cork though you never heard told There's a line of good men with eyes wet and bold Where they weep for the crows bearing twigs for the nest Changing the shape of the trees they loved best This is the calendar These are the dates You know you'll be, you won't know what you'll see The routes might change so all that remains Is the pull from place to place The ghost of O'Donahue scared not the lad Who in desert respect lost the smile he borne glad Sat quite chief and folorn and pitched with the spectre Escaped all exhaustions and prayers from the rector And with glancing devout pulled a frown from his sack Weighed with loaves from the oven and ale from the rack This is the calendar These are the dates You know you'll be, you won't know what you'll see The routes might change so all that remains Is the pull from place to place In the last days of my life Oh I won't know whether to laugh or cry In the last days of my life Oh I won't know whether to laugh or cry In the last days of my life Oh I won't know whether to laugh or cry ************************************ | / slide up | \ slide down | h hammer-on | p pull-off | ~ vibrato | + harmonic | x Mute note | b Bend | pb Pre-bend | br Bend release | pbr Pre-bend release | brb Bend release bend ************************************
