I think it is based on the Travis picking style: use your thumb on each count. So the 
pattern for your picking (right) hand is pip pmpi|p pmpipi
(p=thumb, i=index finger, m=middle finger) In the spaces is a hammer, played by your 
left hand. Be sure that every half count gets one note, to get the right flow.
Especially the hammered notes (4h5) and the next note played by the thumb give the for 
this song so typical effect:
they are on a different string but it is the same note! Good luck!
