• Song:

    Backroads

  • Artist:

    Lonely The Brave

I hope this is correct, I worked it out by ear. It's a great song and there's no chords or anything for it so
I decided to publish what I thought was correct.

I think it's played in Drop D but it still sounds good played in standard tuning.

Intro: E E E E E
       Dbm Dbm A A E E

E
Saw things that the rat saw
A
And my eyes couldn't take them in
E A
Just want to fall here silently
Dbm
Into the arms of people I love
A
Under waiting stars as the ships come rolling in

E (B)
But look at the way the faces turn
Dbm
Eyes burn why (eyes burn why)
A
If you be the sky then I'll be the bird
E (B)
But look at the way the faces turn
A
Eyes burn why (eyes burn why)
A
If you be the sky then I'll be the bird

E E Dbm Dbm A A E E

E
So the power lines were leaning
A
And all was lost
E
Make a vow with the city lights
A
With your fingers crossed
E
You said I'd be a place and time
A
Said I'd be a man
Dbm
Making eyes with a sea of lies
So you understand
     A
That you're raping on my dreaming
And you're ruining my best made plans

E (B)
The rat he turned and bared his teeth at you
Dbm
The wake is calling, what you gonna do?
A
But your head's gone
And it won't be long
E (B)
The rat he turned and bared his teeth at you
Dbm
The wake is calling, what you gonna do?
A
But your head's gone
And it won't be long

E E

E
So the sinners stopped and the villains turned
A E (Dbm A)
And I'll be the sky and you be the bird
E
Let's meet the mountains and see what they heard
A E (Dbm E)
And I'll be the sky and you be the bird

E
And I'll be the sky and you be the bird
A E (Dbm A)
Oh, and I'll be the sky and you be the bird
E (Dbm)
I said, I'll be the sky and you be the bird
A E (Dbm A) E
And I'll be the sky and you be the bird
