alright today were doing Midwest midnight an incredible song by and incredible band who never got
the attention they deserved

this is off the stagepass album which was recrded live at the agora ballroom in Cleveland ohio in 1976

Intro

A (Michael drones on an a chord while Jonah Koslen plays some little licks around the chords)

A D E
A D E (these can be played two different ways if you have a full band they are single stokes like the album
if your doing this song solo I do triplets on the D and E to give it a fuller sound)

A D E
With thirteen lovers I hid beneath the covers
A D E
got staples in my hands for my time
A F#
With the radio low so the folks don't know
    D E
I proceed with my passion of crime...
A D E
And though somewhat obtuse, I've been told this abuse
A D E
will more than likely make me go blind
A F#
But with a heart that's aching, it's a risk worth taking
     D E A
'cause true love, they say, is so hard to find...

A D E
A D E

A D E
Why can't she see what she's doing to me
A D E
If that bandstand girl only was here
A F#
And I'm living the dream, getting lost on the screen,
D E
doing Presley in front of the mirror...
A D E
Hanging around, getting high on the sounds
A D E
of the ladies and electric guitars
A F#
Cross a double yellow line to who knows where
  D E A
with six sets of glory a night in some bar...

 (CHORUS:)
 D A E A AAA
 Midwest midnight]
 D A E A
Ten thousand watts of holy light
F#m D A E
 from my radio so clear...
 D A E A AAA D A E A
 Bodies glistening, everybody's listening
 F#m D E (hold and drone on this E)
as the man plays all the hits that you want to hear.

A D E
With a will to believe, and my songs on my sleeve
A D E
If only I'd known from the start
A F#
Such a sensitive toy, for a suburban boy
   D E
who believed he was suffering for art...
A D E
 But then something went wrong
A D E
and he watched as his songs
A D E
met a slow death of silence, but worse
A F#
He was taken to task, by some critic who asked,
   D E A
"Do you write the words or lyrics first..."

 BRIDGE:
A (HOLD AND DRONE)
 I hear 'em callin':

(everything on the bridge is played in single not chops with two part call and answer vocals)

A
 "Boy, you should be grateful
D
to get your foot inside the door.
G
You know there's thousands out there
A
 who would take your place...
A
This attitude of yours, my son,
D
well, it lacks the due respect...
G G/F#
You bite the hand that feeds you--
D E (CONTINUE TO STRUM)
 even if you're never fed..."

A D E
Chasing the fame keeps 'em all in the game
A D E
But money's still the way they keep score
A F#
And nobody told you that you would get older
   D E
strung out like some Avenue whore...
A D E
Waiting release, getting shot through the grease,
A D E
 some L.A. madonna's maligned
A F#
And New York's calling just to see if you've heard
  D
 'bout the great English band
  E A
 they just signed....

 Take me back to...
 (CHORUS:)
 Midwest midnight
Ten thousand watts of holy light
 from my radio so clear...
 Bodies glistening, is anybody listening?
Does the man still play all the hits that you want to hear

Ok guys hope you dig it just listen to the song for the timing but its really easy and any solo work
that is in this song can be easily learned and crafted to your playing style. I hope your guys enjoy this
and have no problem with it being shared or reposted so long as you give me the proper credit for
the work that I have done myself....
