The technique used is travis picking, which is very extensively used in country,
american folk and bluegrass music. Worth checking out some lessons on it if you?re not already
familiar, very adaptive and useful style of playing chords and relatively easy to get
into. It takes practise though :-)

So, here it is:

C G Am
I can't spare a moment for the dog faced boy
F G C
I won't lend another hand to the worm girl of Hanoi
E7 Am
Don't deplete my oxygen for the guy who's turning blue
     C G C
But ask me, and I'll do anything for you

           C G G7
Whenever I think of you it only makes me feel sad
                                                C
Whenever I think of you, the best friend I ever had...
         Bb F C
Before I gave it up all for nothing

        C (alternating C/G bass)
Well, I lied and I cheated
         C G G7
And it made me feel bad
It made me feel guilty for not being true
Oh the months I spend trying for a way to explain
                                             C
In the end all I could do as turn my head in shame

           C C7 F D7
Whenever I think of you, oh darling, it only makes me feel sad
        G7
Because you deserve better and once I was it
                                              C
But somehow my good intentions just got up and git

F G C
So I can?t spare a moment on the dog faced boy
F G C
I won?t lend another hand to the worm girl of Illinois
  E7 Am F
I can?t deplete my oxygen for the one guy who?s turning blue
    C G C
But ask me, and I`ll do anything for you
