a few notes at the risk of being verbose:

i saw this song transcribed differently
on a website, with the capo on the 5th fret,
with the chords BmGDA, (and that's the way richard does it live
i believe) but i play along with the CD with no capo,
in the key of Em/G (i think that's right).
both ways sound right when played along with the CD,
but i like my way better.

just use an easy, free-picking style, listen to how richard plays,
and you'll see what i mean.
sorry, i don't write tab; i play by ear...
 but it's really quite simple.
he adds a lot of hammer-ons and twiddly things in there.
really a pretty song.
comments, suggestions ?

Em/addG D C/addG Cmaj7/addG D

Em/addG D C G
let's not drive away just yet
Em/addG D C/addG Cmaj7/addG D
Give me a mo- ment more
Em/addG D C/G G
to walk through those rooms again
Em/addG D
 to walk through that door

Em/addG D C G
if we turn off the radio
Em/addG D C/addG Cmaj7/addG D
i've only to close my eyes
Em/addG D C/addG G
and the wind in the sycamores
Em/addG D
 will carry me home

            G C/addG
        the vine of my memory
            G C/addG
        is blooming around those eaves
                 G C/addG Em/addG D C/addG
but it's true it's a chore to tame wis - ter- ia

           Em/addG D C/addG
        wis - ter- ia

Em/addG D C G
i'm tempted to ring the bell
Em/addG D C/addG Cmaj7/addG D
 maybe they'd ask me in
Em/addG D C/addG
or maybe it's just as well
Em/addG D
 to just let it be

Em/addG D C G
  remember the price we paid?
Em/addG D C/addG Cmaj7/addG D
it seemed like a lot back then
Em/addG D C/addG G
 remember the love we made
Em/addG D
 the day we moved in?

             G C/addG
         the vine of my memory
             G C/addG
         is blooming around those eaves
                  G C/addG Em/addG D C/addG
but it's true it's a chore to tame wis - ter - ia

             Em/addG D C/addG
          wis - ter- ia

Em/addG D C G
it did need some pruning back
Em/addG D C/addG Cmaj7 D
and i know that it's not my place
Em/addG D C/addG G
but how could they just cut it down
Em/addG D
 and leave not a trace?

Em/addG D C G
let's not drive away just yet
Em/addG D C/addG Cmaj7/addG D
give me a mo - ment more

          the vine of my memory
                G C/addG
still blooms all around those eaves

and it's true it's a chore to tame wis - te - ria
