Fools Gold by Ryan Adams

I was dumbfounded that this wasn't already on here ?!?

This song is bootleg from the outtakes on the Gold album. So tragic it never made onto the album... such a great song. Like so many of his best songs, never to see the light of day.

I did it from ear, so suggestions are welcome.

Standard Tuning/Capo 1st fret

Intro:
Bm A G x5

Bm

Bm A G
She wore a dress that Mara Lisa had sewn
Bm A G
And everybody just laughed
Bm A G
The boys were suited up on Mexican rose
Bm A G
They spilled their wine on their pants
Bm A G
A distant cousin of her brother had come
Bm A G
He tore the sheets from her bed
Bm A G
She felt the poison of the barreling sun
Bm A G
She felt the weight of his hands

Bm D A G
Fool's gold can buy you anything you want
Bm A G Quick A
Fool's gold, fool's gold

Bm A G x2

Bm A G
Her sister Hattie had a ship
Bm A G
But it had no sail
Bm A G
Her husband hit her and he split her lip
Bm A G
He said he'd kill her if he thought she would tell
Bm A G
The streets were empty on the 4th of July
Bm A G
The fires burned in the sticks
Bm A G
The bells were ringing from the church of the saints
A
Made of Mexican brick

Bm D A G
Fool's gold can buy you anything you want
Bm A G

Bm A G
They watched her walk in from the roof of their house
Bm A G
She had a gun in her purse
Bm A G
Mara Lisa could have left on a train
Bm A G
She wasn't sure which was worse
Bm A G
Her brother Daniel knew a guy in the stretch
Bm A G
He had some horses and a grudge
Bm A G
The other option was a Mexican jail
A
And a crooked judge

Bm A G
They cast a shadow on the dusted remains
Bm A G
The broken bottles cut the earth
Bm A G
She saw a rifle sticking out of the brush
Bm A G
She grabbed the gun from her purse
Bm A G
Mara Lisa threw the sacks in the car
Bm A G
The bullets cut into the breeze
Bm A G
Fool's gold can buy you Mexican jewels
A
But it can't buy the police
