• Song:

    After The Storm

  • Artist:

    Shovels And Rope

Another from the forthcoming release. Mostly just played with standard chords. I've seen Mike play the bridge
with barre chords and without, so either way is fine. He also does a little "on/off" thing on the first
fret of the B string. Enjoy!

by Shovels & Rope
Swimmin' Time

G
                            G
I said I thought I would be colder
                      B7
Put your head upon my shoulder
         C G
Ain't it funny how time just seems to run

                            G
What the hell have you been doing
                               B7
Not too sure, it's just mostly moving
          C G
I've been spinning for so long I guess I'm spun

         G B7 Em
Like the widest river, like the brightest morn
      C A
There hope where you can see it, there is a light after the storm
              G B7 Em
But won't you help me to get through it, I've been flailing like a child
   C D G
My mistakes are so many, for my loving heart is wild

          G
Not quite old
             B7
But far from young
     C G
Body bold, with a youthful tongue

       G
Like a kiss felt out of context
        B7
I can't separate my mind
       C G
We can set this boat on fire, we can leave it all behind

         G B7 Em
Like the widest river, like the brightest morn
         C A
There is hope just up ahead, there is a shelter safe and warm
              G B7 Em
But won't you help me to get to it, I've been selfish I have lied
   C D F#m
My mistakes they are so many, for my ruthless heart is wild

                    Em G D
Like the winds that ? the plains, they cut you down to size
D7 Em A G
None but the dust and seeds remain, they root themselves and rise

G B7 C G x2

Like the widest river, like the brightest morn

There is hope where you can't see it, there is a light after the storm

Won't you help me to get through it, I've been flailing like a child
   C D C G
My mistakes they are so many, for my weary heart is wild
