G---G7---C/G---Am/G (Repeat 2 times) G---G7---C/G---Am/G----G Note: This Transcript stays true to the bass notes played over various chords! With sheetmusic & songbooks not always providing chord voicing which,(in the beginning) is the way I learned chords, in search of how to find/figure out the fingering of chords by just seeing/being given the name of that chord, I got lucky one night while on a roll working with a chord book that contained exactly the information I was looking for along with this information. "You will find that some of the chords have exactly the same notes as other chords named differently. For example: C6 contains (C-E-G-A), which are the same notes (when inverted) as those contained in the Am7 chord (A-C-E-G). In cases like this the correct naming of a chord usually can be decided by determining the lowest note sounded in the music (the bass note)". ___ In closing, the bass note doesn't always immediately & neccessarily reveal the chord to be played, for example: "C/G" or "D/F#", but it's the information above witch (over the years) has been and continues to be enormously instrumental in letting me know I'm on the right track when sitting down to figure out chords to songs I work on, also, depending on the artist & provided a CD sells, I (to this day), continue with the method of allowing myself the 4-8 months it takes for the songbook to follow the release of a new CD to pick up the chords by ear, then compare notes with the songbook once it's put out, and YES!, 95-97% of the time, we've come up with the same or simular chords. Good luck to all and keep rockin'
