This is how I play it:
At this part: "D2  D DD D2D2  D4 D D2 G," the "DD D2D2 D4 D D2" is quick single upstrokes.  
The G(5)'s alternate between G5 and G.  At the G(2)'s play G(2), then down to G
(0) I will call it (3x000x), back to G(2).  
The (A)'s in the chorus are basically just the open A string for one beat before the next chord.  
Listen to the song to get the timing.
