------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A place for my head- Linkin park ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tabbed by: homer ali Email:gundamwing1234@yahoo.com Tuning:standard (e,a,d,g,b,e) I wrote this tab because i am truly tired of all the tabs for this song that seem to all have one mistake or another this (i hope) does not have any, but if there are, please email them to me so i can fix it. What you need to play the tune: a good amplifier, guitarist with a distortion pedal. bassist, dj if you want, and a drummer. intro: repeat as many times as you want to but make sure that after the drums cut in that you hit the strings a little harder with the pick to make that different sound they have in the song. (no distortion) e|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| B|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| G|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| D|------8-8-8-9-8-6----------------------------------------------------------| A|-6-6----------------9-9-7-7-7-7-7-9----------------------------------------| E|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| right after the intro, cut into this with distortion (the best way to get the same sound they have is to raise the distortion and edge (or treble on some amps) on your amp to the max as well as the volume knob on your guitar itself, the sound on your amp must not be at the max) this is right when they start singing called now (by me!) mid distortion. e|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| B|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| G|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| D|-------8-8-9-8-6-----------------------------------------------------------| A|--6-6-------------9-9-7-7-7-7-9--------------------------------------------| E|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| after doing the mid distortion as many times as necessary, go into this (you dont have to touch anything on your amp or guitar for this sound just hit more strings)and remember the original beat of the intro and look at the notes that are missing to complete the beat, in place of those missing notes, let the note before them ring a little longer. again repeat as necessary. e|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| B|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| G|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| D|------2--9--10--9--7--5--3-3-3-5-2-----------------------------------------| A|------2--9--10--9--7--5--3-3-3-5-2-----------------------------------------| E|-11/--0--7---8--7--5--3--1-1-1-3-0-----------------------------------------| by the way im 100% sure about the little slide right before they start- it may be hard to do at first but keep trying and you'll get it. after you do the last part, on the first time it finishes a little different than the others as in do this only after the first time you do the heavy distortion. e|---------------------I-----------------------------------------------------| B|---------------------I-----------------------------------------------------| G|---------------------I-----------------------------------------------------| D|-------8-8-8-9-8-6---I-----------------------------------------------------| A|--6-6----------------I--9-9-7-7-7-7-9-6------------------------------------| E|---------------------I-----------------------------------------------------| this part is the tricky part because you have to use a distortion petal right after the heavy distortion to start of with the original intro then right in the middle of it go into mid distortion and continue with mid distortion. after you do the mid distortion a couple of times, do these chords before the 2nd heavy distortion (this is only after you do the mid distortion after the 1st heavy) e|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| B|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| G|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| E|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| now all you have to do after the chords, is to go in to the heavy distortion (remember the slide!!!) and shut up for a couple of seconds while he does the "go away" part. what you do though during that is time your beats and slightly hit the strings on your guitar with your palm- be carefull not to let out ANY notes though. then, right after that you go back to heavy distortion one more time then do this 4 times palm muted then 4 times normal to end the song. e|--------------------------------------I------------------------------------| B|--------------------------------------I------------------------------------| G|--------------------------------------I-this part only at the last-time----I to end the song D|--2-2------2-2-2--2-2-2-2--2-2-2-2-5--I--2--2------------------------------| A|--2-2------2-2-2--2-2-2-2--2-2-2-2-5--I--2--2------------------------------| E|--2-2------2-2-2--2-2-2-2--2-2-2-2/5--I--0--0------------------------------| for this song, timing is everything and is perfected by the drums and the bassist. the bassist, plays the same beat as the drums for the whole song and the lead guitarist plays what's on this tab getting his ques from the drummer and the bassist. be care full and keep trying and you'll eventually get it right and when you do, it will be worth it. | / slide up | \ slide down | h hammer-on | p pull-off | ~ vibrato | + harmonic | x Mute
