Tuning (this tab): Drop D

For the chords, I like to use the open chord and strum the A,D, and G
strings. Occasionally, Andy will strum the lower bass notes or hit the higher
strings, but for the most part, he plays the chords on the "middle" strings.

D5 G5
My love has gone away
D5 A5
Packed up her bags and then boarded that plane
D5 G5
And I guess that the time I figured you?d wait
      A5 G5 D5
Teary face, leaky breath, a bitter taste

D5 G5
Tripped out for 600 years
D5 A5
Who would have thought I?d make it last year?
D5 G5
In a way it makes sense that I died and reappeared
        A5 G5 D5
As that fly you?ve been swatting for years

D5 G5
Calm down and make him a drink
D5 A5
Pretty small town and the gossip repeats
    G5 A5 D5
She took off her clothes and sat on the bed next to me

D5 G5
My heart is pumping my blood,
D5 A5
your hearts not beating at all
     G5 A5 D5
In a way it makes sense that it isn?t, it just never was

D5 G5
Right now, a sinful exchange
D5 A5
Once done, unspeakable shame
    D5 G5
And I should?ve known where I took the blame
    A5 G5 D5
The sweat and the shame fireless flame

A5 G5
Please god don?t take him too
D5 A5
Take me, a replicant fool
       G5 A5 D5
Lost a gear and now I hardly move
       A5 D5
He?s a kid, I?m a fool

D5 G5
Please son, where is your faith?
D5 A5
Take off your bushels set fire to your pain
         G5 A5 D5
You will heal like a cut, let it scar let it scab, let it stain

     G5 A5 D5
In a while I promise you?ll see
       G5 A5 D5 A5
You?re alive, not the blemish or burns that you keep on your feet

D5 G5
I am a towel that is soaked to the core,
D5 A5
heavier now than it?s gotten before
    D5 G5
And something inside of me needs more and more,
          A5 G5 D5
sooner than later never no more

          A5 G5 D5
Sooner than later, never no more
