ok, doesn't anyone remember buffy sainte-marie? she actually wrote a bunch of mainstream songs
("until it's time for you to go", "up where we belong",
yet so many people have NEVER heard of her!!
her writing is amazing.
i have a songbook of hers ,which is 30 years old,
and has an extensive collection of her songs, yet "the angel" is not in it.
really a beatiful song, and i couldn't find the lyrics online anywhere,
and they weren't included on her "best of" cd's , either.
so i had to listen, and type, and listen, and type...
and i'm pretty sure these chords are right.
but if you know better, please feel free to email me with any corrections.
 mrspremise77@aol.com.
 cheers.

the angel

         buffy sainte marie

G Em
come now, and now my love,
Am C G Em
and leave your dying desert to the rains
G Em
give up your treasured wounds,
Am C G Em
let go the tempting memory of the pain.
C D
give up the vows you've taken
G Em C Am G
and you will live, and you will learn to fly away,
              D
 and you will fly.

G Em
and you will live my love
Am C G Em
and see the stars regain your starless night
G Em
and you will find your sun
Am C G Em
and learn the magic meaning of it's light
 C D
all souls will be yours to cherish
G Em C Am G
rising, falling, in their earthly flight
              D
 and you will fly

G Em
and i would love my love
Am C G Em
and he would seek a refuge in my eyes
G Em
but no resource of love,
Am C G Em
could keep him from the fire where loving dies
 C D
and i would reach out my hand as he was
G Em C Am G
falling, falling to his home on high
              D
and he would fly

G Em Am C G Em

G Em
give up your treasured wounds,
Am C G Em
let go the tempting memory of the pain
 C D
give up the vows you've taken
G Em C Am G
and you will live, and you will learn to fly again,
              D
 and you will fly.
