• Song:

The Best Is Yet To Come

  • Artist:

    Clifford T. Ward

  • Album:

    Both of Us

Capo: Fret 4
Timing: 4/4

Recorded by Clifford T Ward as a single in 1981 and released on the album Both of
Us in 1984. It was originally accompanied by piano but works well on guitar with a
finger picking style.

The C chord on the first line of each verse can be enhanced by picking a high G
(1st string 3rd fret) on the words 'do' and 'go' and again as it passes to the F
chord. See complete chord below.

The G4 chord is optional but may be played as a passing chord to lead into the
Dm chord in the next line.

 added high G G4

C
 What did we do wrong?
       F C F C
We had all the magic to put us on our way
F C F Dm7 G ( G4 )
And all the tragedy, that we ever want to see
                 Dm
But you know I'm right,
               F G7 C F C G
When I say the best, is yet to come

C
 Where did we go wrong?
       F C F C
Was it so enlightening we couldn't find our way
F C F Dm7 G ( G4 )
All so frightening, we couldn't see which move to make
                 Dm
And you know I'm right
               F G7 C
When I say the best, is yet to come

/ F G
And if you leave me now,
F G
 Like you say you might
Em Dm7
Oh please don't leave me now
         F Dm
'Cause I know, if you do

None of this will come true so...

C
 Where do we go now?
         F C F C
Now your heart is aching and leading you astray
F C F Dm7 G ( G4 )
Me I'm burning up, trying to get you to stay
                    Dm
'Cause you know I'm right
               F G7 C
When I say the best, is yet to come
                 F G7 C G7 C
And you know the best is still to come
