It is in triplets and you can just hold the Am chord.

When you get to the wilder part, I suggest muting the D string without releasing the Am 
then playing it normally for the other two strokes:

I recommend playing this sloppily or maybe putting your own spin on it.  You will never 
it exactly like the song so just have fun with it.  We are talking Devendra here.
