• Song:

    Christmas Song

  • Artist:

    Flyleaf

This song was the last of four tracks released on "Music as a Weapon - EP" by Flyleaf in 2006.
The EP was part of the Music as a Weapon III tour, and is not being sold anymore (there
were only 1000 cds made).
The entire song is a standard four chord progression, with two beats of each chord in
4/4 at about 82 bpm.
The original key is Am, but I tabulated this in Em for easier singing.
If you want to play it in the original key, transpose the song up 5 half steps, so the
chord progression is Am, F, C, and G.

Tonight the long awaited Savior is to be born
Em C G
The goodness bound by Satan

It has been torn
Em C G
  With this baby's precious brow

Ready for thorns

There's an ounce of fear
            G D
As wise men follow faithfully

The virgin Mary brings forth the human Savior
Em C G D
And this future king sleeps soundly in the manger

        Soundly in the manger

Verse 3
Em C G D
Tonight He is born so one day He can die
Em C G D
To heal hearts that are torn and live the perfect life
Em C G
So He can hang upon a cross

And we can take His life
          C G D
So we can live as sinners and He can pay the price
Em C G D
Tonight He is born so one day He can die
Em C G D (Chorus)
     But He will rise again

Tonight the long awaited Savior is to be born
Em C G
The goodness bound by Satan
            D
It has been torn
Em C G
  With this baby's precious brow
D Em C G
Ready for thorns
