In any standard tuning (e.g. EADGBE, DGCFAD) or dropped (DADGBE, CGCFAD) you
can play these riffs on any string. if u start on the low E string slowly and
then play on the 5th  string and back down again, adding a higher string, but fropping the lower each time it sounds cool (as demonstrated below) it sounds cool.

I'm really sorry if ive over complicated this, its easier than ive 
made it sound. just work out a rythm 4 urself and it'll pretty much 
play itself.
