    When the Whip Comes Dow...

Ok, this song is actually incredibly simple. There is one main riff that is used throughout the whole thing. In the verse, Trent sings a line and the bass and guitar come in, the bass starts a whole step lower (2 frets) than the guitar, and instantly slides up to the note the guitar is playing. In the bridge, the main riff is played halfway through 3 times then the breakdown comes in. I'll start with the verse

Key:
/ = slide
X = dead note

VERSE

G ------------------------------------------------------------------------
D ------------------------------------------------------------------------
A -3/5-5-5-5-5-6-5-3-3/5-5-5-5-5-6-5--------------------------------------
E ------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the chorus, when Trent sings the lines before you break back into the verse riff, you play only two notes the first time, then four the second. This is the same in every single chorus.

CHORUS

G ------------------------------------------------------------------------
D -3----------------------------------------------------------------------
A ---3-------3/5-5-5-5-5-6-5-3-3/5-5-5-5-5-6-5----------------------------
E ------------------------------------------------------------------------

G ------------------------------------------------------------------------
D -3----5-6---------------------------------------------------------------
A ---3-------3/5-5-5-5-5-6-5-3-3/5-5-5-5-5-6-5----------------------------
E ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Near the end of the song, after Trent is completely finished singing, they take the verse riff and make a break down that is repeated until the song ends.

BRIDGE

And that's all there is to it.
