This is my favorite song from Fables of the Reconstruction (In my opinion, one of REM's weaker pre-major label records). It has a pretty cool riff

that is also very simple to play. Here it is in all its grandeur:

Intro/main Riff:

e|--------------------------------------------------------------------|Repeat once for intro
B|-----------------------------------0-----0--------------------------|
G|--------------------------------------------------0-----0-----0-----|
D|------------------------------2s5-----5-----5--5-----4-----2-----0--|
A|----------------2--0----2--3----------------------------------------|
E|--0----0--2--3------------------------------------------------------|

Verse:

    Em Am G Gmaj7 On repeat, play a D for Gmaj7. D
e|--0----0----3-----2----| e|--3--|
B|--0----1----3-----3----| B|--2--|
G|--0----2----0-----0----| G|--3--|
D|--2----2----0-----0----| D|--0--|
A|--2----0----x-----x----| A|-----|
E|--0---------3-----3----| E|-----|

Chorus:

    D Cadd9 Repeat 4 times*
e|--2----3----|
B|--3----3----|
G|--2----0----|
D|--0----2----|
A|-------3----|
E|------------|

*On second and third repeats of the Cadd9 chord, you can substitute the following lick

e|---------------------|
B|---------------------|
G|------0-----0-----0--|
D|----2-----0-----0----|
A|--3-----2-----0------|
E|---------------------|

Post-chorus bit:

e|-----------------------------------|
B|-----------------------------------|
G|-----------------------------------|
D|------2-------2-------2-------2----|
A|----2---2---2---2---2---2---2---2--|
E|--0-------2-------3-------2--------|

Bridge (part with harmonica):

    Am C G D
e|--0----0----3----2--|
B|--1----1----3----3--|
G|--2----0----0----2--|
D|--2----2----0----0--|
A|--0----3----x-------|
E|------------3-------|
