THOSE WORDS WE SAID (Kim Richey & Angelo)
-----------------------------------------
[Actually in Ab/Fm; capo 1.]
[This is Kim Richey's version. Trisha Yearwood's version is different in
the following ways: (a) It's in A/F#m (capo 2); (b) No acoustic guitar
intro, and shorter intro overall; (c) The end of the guitar solo is
different; (d) The ending is shorter.]
[The A's in parentheses among the Em's are short.]
[I think Kim plays the Em parts as Em Em/G Em Em/G; that is, she uses her
pinky or ring finger on the 3rd fret of the low E string to raise the bass
 note to a G on the backbeat (2 & 4).]

Acoustic guitar intro: see tab at end of file.

(A) Em Em (A) Em Em (A) Em Em (A) Em Em (A)
    [intro]

Em Em G D
I left you with nothing but a few tears in my eyes
        Em Em G D
Now I'm halfway down the interstate past Highway 99
         Em Em G D
It's just me and one good wiper blade up against the rain

      C(9) C(9) G D
And I still hear the echoes of those bitter words we said
            C(9) C(9) G D
And I could drive a million miles and never drive them from my head
D [stop] Em Em (A) Em Em (A)
 Those words we said

   Em Em G D
No matter how I try, I can't get far enough away
       Em Em G D
Every sad song on my radio sounds like it's custom made
       Em Em G D
By some devil on my shoulder that keeps whispering in my ear

      C(9) C(9) G D
And I still hear the echoes of those bitter words we said
              C(9) C(9) G
And I could drive a million miles and never drive them from my

head

C G D Em - D
Those words that wounded like an arrow to the heart
C(9) [stop]
  And keep me driving, driving

Em Em G D Em Em G D Em Em G D - D/C D/B - D/A
[guitar solo]

      C(9) C(9) G D
And I still hear the echoes of those bitter words we said
              C(9) C(9) G D
And I could drive a million miles and never drive them from my head
D [stop] Em Em (A)
 Those words we said
Em Em (A) Em Em (A)
         Those words we said

[repeat Em Em (A) several times, and end on Em.]
