• Song:

    Tumbling Dice

  • Artist:

    Rolling Stones

Both the recorded and live versions of this song are played in Open G tuning.

This tab is transposed to Eb tuning. There two ways you can get there:

You can simply tune down every string a semitone, giving you from low to high: Eb Ab Db Gb Bb eb

You can also tune to D Standard (every string down a full step) : D G C F A D and then put a capo
on the first fret. I do this because I find myself not playing much in Eb, and it is easier to think
through fret changes between this and standard.

The song is in the key of B. (Bb in some live versions, you you wish to match this, tune to D
standard and don't put the capo on)

The base of the song is a blues shuffle in B, which in relation to the tuning and capo position
is a C chord shape. It is then just accented by a few riffs throughout.

EVERYTHING FROM HERE DOWN IS IN RELATION TO THE CAPO ON THE FIRST FRET

There are three chords you need for this song:

          C G Fmaj7
eb|-------0-------3-------0--|
Bb|-------1-------0-------1--|
Gb|-------0-------0-------2--|
Db|-------2-------0-------3--|
Ab|-------3-------2-------3--|
Eb|-------x-------3-------x--|

Shuffle (Based on C chord shape)
You can play this in the verse in place of the C chord. However, if playing solo,
I tend to go for the
full C chord and palm muting a shuffle count because it sounds fuller, could even go with a C/G if
you want a real low end sound)
