[Transcription by Gordon Walker

Another I'm not sure I've posted before (cos I hadn't quite finished
it??).

This transcription is *not* exactly as Roy plays it - but works for me!
He uses a dropped top E as well I think on normal tuning - or is it a
full open tuning in D? He also plays the second D (my D*) _up_ the neck
for the socond chord, but in my tuning it never seems to sound right
trying to do that to me (plus it's easier to hit the C/D afterwards
doing it my way!).

Tom Tiddlers Ground
-------------------

I thought you had passed, but you caught me at last,
D/G D * C/D D
Where you know I could never be worn.
D/C D/B D , D9+4, D
And now that you're here, and you finally hear,
D/G D * C/D D
It's so clear on the wings of the dawn.
D/C D/B D , D9+4, D
Where your smile starts to shine, as you breath in the brine
D/G D * C/D D
Of the spray on the very same day.
D/C D/B D , D9+4, D
The same day we all go, when we're sure that we know,
D/G D * C/D D
What it is to be floating away.
D/C D/B D , D9+4, D

And there's a lovenest, on Tom Tiddler's Ground
               A D
And there's a lovenest, on Tom Tiddler's Ground
               A D
And there's a lovenest, on Tom Tiddler's Ground
               A D
Long before Eden, was lost and found.
            G D D/B D/Bb D , D9+4, D

But you know you'll have to be kind, ifyou're ever gonna find,
The place that your face could have been shown.
Especially when you don't dare, to force anyone there,
To share in the ice being blown.

And there's a lovenest....

And you heard me say 'yes', but you know its a guess,
As somebody else shouted 'no'.
And you know freedom is free, of all the forces that be,
And the ice that you too thought you should throw.

And there's a lovenest....

I thought you had passed, but you caught me at last,
where you know I could nvere be worn.
And now that you're here, and you finally hear,
It's so clear on the wings of the dawn.
And you know freedom is free, of all the forces that be,
And the ice that you too thought should be thrown.

And there's a lovenest....

(oops - I forgot G - but I'm sure you can survive without my little
pictures for that one (don't forget the bottom E dropped to D!).

Note for the end of the chorus and every other verse line:

The walk down at the end should be played stressing the bass notes on
the A string (ie pluck them on the beat), and then there is a little
pull off using the first finger to play the open A (either from the B
(in the verses) or the Bb (in the chorus)) followed by plucking the
bottom D normally and then strum. Best to listen to the record to see
what I mean (if I'm making sense of course)!

Tom Tiddlers Ground, by Roy Harper.

This is my version of this song. I have borrowed heavily from
the transcription by Gordon Walker . The main
difference is that my versionis in DADGBD, with both Es dropped to a
D. Its much easier to play this way I think.

      The chords then become

In this case (4) denotes an optional note. The only other difference in the way
that I play it, is the walk down the bass strings at the end of the chorus used D sus2
(which is the same shape as Gordon has his D4+2) and then I start the walk from the
E (4th string 2nd fret) rather than the C that Gordon has.
