Well to start off,the chords used in the song are C# A#m F# and G#.
And the bass simply follows using Fifths. Which really is only two notes
at a time, the root note and the 'fifth' which is the note above the root.
Example for C# on the A string, the note above is G# on the E string.
It may sound complicated, but it is very simple. If you listen to the song you'll notice
back-and-forth bass line, only two notes per chord. Bass is very easy to play, I'll
you.

For C# Sharp use this.....A#m.........F#.........G#
G-----------------------|G---------|G---------|G---------|
D-----------------------|D---------|D---------|D---------|
A-4---4-----------------|A-1---1---|A---4---4-|A---6---6-|
E---4---4---------------|E---1---1-|E-2---2---|E-4---4---|
Those are the riffs for the chords, just plug them in where you need to.

C# A#m
Desert night under lonely stars
C# A#m
Cruising down the highway takes me farther from home
C# A#m C# A#m
Whiskey and regret, neither can erase the fact that I have done wrong
F# C# F# C#
So now I'm on the run, the law is on my trail
F# C#
Let down the only girl that ever seemed to be the one for me
   F# G#
so now I wander alone.

SOLO-C#,A#m,C#,A#m,C#,A#m,C#,A#m...

C# A#m
Alone in a cheap motel room.
C# A#m
Praying to the Lord above
C# A#m
Burden of the past rests so heavy on my shoulders
   F# G#
My conscience carries the weight of blood
C# A#m C# A#m
Cigarette smoke and shadow, a neon cactus in the night
C# A#m
Did what I did because I thought that I had no choice
F# G#
but there's always another way
  F# C# F# C#
I look to the moon and stars, somewhere underneath them she's there
F# C#
Never spoke the words of love I hid in my heart
       F# G#
If she heard them now would she still care?
F# C# F# C#
Wonder if she's thinking of me? does she hate me for what I've done?
F# C#
How I wish that I could change everything and go back
F# G#
now that my last chance is gone, It's gone...

Second Solo: C# A#m C# A#m C# A#m C# A#m
F# C# F# C# F# C# F# G#

F# C#
Moon, will you tell her for me
F# C#
I'm sorry for all the trouble that I've caused
F# C#
If only I could find a way to return to her someday
F# G#
for I long to hold her in my arms
F# C#
But I fear that i'm not long for this world
          F# C#
because I will not go out without a fight
F# C#
I'm running forever and if they should catch me
F# G#
One last thought of her before my gun is fired...

C# A#m C# A#m C# A#m F# G#.

That's all there is to it. Just play the riff notes to the particular chord.
You can play any Doo wop song or alot of fifties rock n roll songs or country ballads
outlaw heart, with this formula. playing in 'fifths' is all a bass does for these types of
even in In the Orchard. If you have any question write me at Mothra_82@hotmail.com
