What a beautiful song! It's always been one of my favorites. None of these chords on
seemed to do it for me. They have the right chords and key but none of them REALLY get the
I don't think:) If you combine both of the chords that people already posted, you'd have
perfect tab! So here it is:

White Houses, Vanessa Carlton.

C Am G
Crashed on the floor when I moved in
C Am G
This little bungalow with some strange new friends
C Am G
Stay up too late, and I'm too thin
C Am G
We promise each other it's 'til the end
.......... Am
Now we're spinning empty bottles
           G F
It's the five of us
       Am G F
With pretty eyed boys girls die to trust
   Am G
I can't resist the day
       Am G
No, I can't resist the day

 C Am G
Jenny screams out and it's no pose
         C Am G
'Cause when she dances she goes and goes
C Am G
Beer through the nose on an inside joke
      C Am G
And I'm so excited, I haven't spoken
               Am G F
And she's so pretty, and she's so sure
       Am G F
Maybe I'm more clever than a girl like her
Am G
Summer's all in bloom
Am G
Summer is ending soon

        F Am G F
It's alright and it's nice not to be so alone
        Am G F C Am G
But I hold on to your secrets in white houses

C Am G
Maybe I'm a little bit over my head
    C Am G
I come undone at the things he said
     C Am G
And he's so funny in his bright red shirt
         C Am G
We were all in love and we all got hurt
    Am G F
I sneak into his car's cracked leather seat
     Am G F
The smell of gasoline in the summer heat
             Am G
Boy, we're going way too fast
              Am G
It's all too sweet to last

        F
It's alright
       Am G F
And I put myself in his hands
       Am G F C Am G
But I hold on to your secrets in white houses
F Am G F
Love, or something ignites in my veins
       Am G F C Am G
And I pray it never fades in white houses

 F C Am G F
My first time, hard to explain
          C Am G F
Rush of blood, oh, and a little bit of pain
        C Am G F
On a cloudy day, it's more common than you think
    C Am G C
He's my first mistake

F Am G C (hold C for one measure, strum quietly)

C Am G
Maybe you were all faster than me
     C Am G
We gave each other up so easily
       C Am G
These silly little wounds will never mend
C Am G
I feel so far from where I've been

(strum a little louder)

      F Am G F
So I go, and I will not be back here again
     Am G F C Am G
I'm gone as the day is fading on white houses...

(strum fully now)

    F Am G F
I lied, wrote my injuries all in the dust

In my heart is the five of us
     C Am G
In white houses

     F Am G F
And you, maybe you'll remember me
        Am G F
What I gave is yours to keep
    C Am G
In white houses
F C Am G
In white houses
F C Am G
In white houses

(strum one final C chord and let ring out)
