Song: LIGHT IN YOUR EYES
Band: BLESSID UNION OF SOULS
Transcribed by: J. White, - Austin, TX

Note: Piano chords differ slightly from guitar chords throughout, and guitar takes
a backseat to what sounds to be

a mandolin in the chorus. This is probably part of the source of confusion with
the other tabs. Strumming the

high strings only during the chorus helps with sound matching. Here is a version
that can be played solo on

rhythm guitar, or with piano accompaniment, that I believe is far more accurate
than the other versions available.

Sometimes the distance is more than two people can use

But how could I have known girl
       A E
It was time and not space you would need

Darlin' tonight, I could hold you
              B D E
And you would know, but would you believe

Chorus:
           A D E
There's a light in your eyes that I used to see
          A D E
There's a place in your heart where I used to be
      A D B
Was I wrong to assume that you were waiting for me
         D
There's a light in your eyes
                         E A D Fm E
Did you leave that light burning for me

A D Fm E

A D E D A D E D
Cards and phone calls and photograph pictures of you
A D E D A D E
Constant reminder of all the things you get used to
E C#m D
Is there a chance in hell or heaven
             A E
That there's still something here to build on
          C#m D B
Or do you just pick up the pieces after they fall
D E
But after all

          A D E
There's a light in your eyes that I used to see
      A D E
And a song in the words that you spoke to me
      A D B
Was I wrong to believe in your melody
          D
There's a light in your eyes
                         E Fm D
Did you leave that light burning for me

       A E Fm D
Should I keep on waiting or does love keep on fading away
        B D E
Fading away

A G (x3)
A D E D

A D E D A D E D
It's been a while since I've seen you so how have you been
    A D E D A D E
Did you get my letter I wrote you, but I did not send
E C#m D
I tried to call your old number
        A E
But the voice that I heard on the phone
       C#m D B
I recognized but she told me the number was wrong

(piano only, or slow strum or pick guitar as substitute)

***piano chord progression differs somewhat from guitar part - don't have a piano
here to figure out the nuances, but this arrangement will do.

          A Asus2/C# Dsus2/F# E
There's a light in my eyes but it's too bright to see
      A Asus2/C# Dsus2/F# E
And a pain in my heart where you used to be
            A Asus2/C# Dsus2/F# B
Guess I was wrong to assume that you were waiting here for me
          Dsus2/F#
There's a light in your eyes
        Fm E A Asus2/C# Dsus2/F# E A
Did you leave that light burning for me

END

Or, easy version of last chorus:

          A A D E
There's a light in my eyes but it's too bright to see
      A A D E
And a pain in my heart where you used to be
            A A D B
Guess I was wrong to assume that you were waiting here for me
          D
There's a light in your eyes
        Fm E A D E A
Did you leave that light burning for me
