It means play the same chord as previously noted. On the recording, the last word of each verse is 'drowned out' by the first 'Di' but I tend to actually sing it and cut out the first 'Di'... eg.... '....captain's leg di di di ....di de di ...di' Also, I can not work out exactly what they sing in the line '....smashing their wee boat was sat a gale'. Some people sing it as '...crashing on their small boat like a gale' but that is definitely NOT what is sung on the recording.
