The intro is played on ukelele but this way sounds decent on guitar. And I
tried to put in the count for the strumming pattern; I hope it's right but
I haven't done that in years so please correct me if it's not. Also, the
second half of the verses has a distinct rhythm so listen to the song for
it. Enjoy!

Verse:
A F#m D A
When we were younger time was under careful lock and key.
A F#m D A
Now it's open, tipped and pourin' out all over me.
   F#m C#m Bm F#m C#m Bm
Oh what a shame! that our days, you exclaimed, I thought you had meant they were long.
     F#m C#m Bm F#m C#m A
Not 'till the night when I turned 25, I saw that I had it all wrong.

(Between the two verses you can play half the intro or just keep playing an A chord)

Verse:
A F#m D A
I was gettin' tired of lettin' all my hours pass.
A F#m D A
Hopin' someday soon or some way everything would last.
   F#m C#m Bm F#m C#m Bm
Oh What a shame! When I look at your frame, I know someday it will be dust.
    F#m C#m Bm F#m C#m A
Not that I thought it's that close, 'cause it's not, but I guess it's just creepin' up.

(Between the verse and chorus you can play the full intro or A chords)

Chorus:
A D A E
Oh and it's not that bad, it's all this time we've had.
C#m D A E
Things that could be, became history. We'll never know instead.
A D A E

C#m D
Oh and our tea cup is getting filled up.
A E A(x4)
So we'll never have to dread getting old.
