I am submitting this tab because I feel the others leave a lot to be desired.
I will try to combine all needed sounds of the song onto one guitar so it
can sound a little more complete than the other versions.

This is the riff for the intro, verses, and most all of the song.
CAPO 4 - Standard Tuning

Accurate Strumming is not represented below....just a guideline...
The most important part is emphasizing the walking bass line on the chords
and the walk up of the A and B notes back to the C chord. Listen to the
song...it's easy.

  C C/B Am C/G F G C C/B Am C/G F G

C C/B Am C/G F G
I went on the search for something true,
C C/B Am C/G F G
I was almost there when I found you,
C C/B Am C/G F G
Sooner than my fate was wrote a perfect blade had slit my throat
C C/B Am C/G F G
and beads of lust released into the air,
F G
When I awoke, You were standing there.

C, C/B, Am, C/G, F, G x2

C C/B Am C/G F G
I was on the mend when I fell through
    C C/B Am C/G F G
The sky around was anything but blue,
C C/B Am C/G F G
I found as I regained my feet, a wound across my memory
C C/B Am C/G F G
That no amount of stitches would repair,
F G
But I awoke, and you were standing there.

Okay below is the first break...the chords with the little piano fill added
Play the below F chord with the thumb hooked over to make fretting the
melody easier.
  C G
e-----3---3h5-1-0-1-------3---1-0-----------------------------------------|
B-1---1---5---3-1-1---3---0---0-0-----------------------------------------|
G-0-----0---------2---2---0-0---------TIMES 2-----------------------------|
D-2---------------3---3---0-0---------------------------------------------|
A-3-3-------------x-------2-----------------------------------------------|
E-----------------1-1-----3-----------------------------------------------|

           C C/B Am C/G F G
There's no fortune at the end of the road that has no end
           C C/B Am C/G F G
There's no returning to the spoils once you've spoiled the thought of them
           C C/B Am C/G F G
There's no falling back asleep once you've waken from the dream,
        C C/B Am C/G F G
Now I'm rested and I'm ready, I'm rested and I'm ready to begin
C, C/B, Am, C/G, F, G
                     I'm ready to begin..

I went on the search for something real,
I traded what I know for how I feel
But the ceiling and the walls collapsed,
upon the darkness I was trapped,
and as the last of breath was drawn from me,
Light broke in and brought me to my feet.

There's no fortune at the end of the road that has no end,
There's no returning to the spoils once you've spoiled the thought
of them,
there's no falling back asleep once you've wakened from the dream,
Now I'm rested and and I'm ready (repeat several times)

Hold the G chord for a while to transition back into this tab for the
ending.

e-----3---3h5-1-0-1-------3---1-0-----------------------------------------|
B-1---1---5---3-1-1---3---0---0-0-----------------------------------------|
G-0-----0---------2---2---0-0---------TIMES 2-----------------------------|
D-2---------------3---3---0-0---------------------------------------------|
A-3-3-------------x-------2-----------------------------------------------|
E-----------------1-1-----3-----------------------------------------------|

End on a C Chord....

Okay, this should lay it out pretty well. It is basically that same simple
progression through 90% of the song. Let me know if there are any questions,
corrections, etc.

Thanks,
Jifigz
